Probably the vast majority isn't amusing but what're you gonna do? For whatever reason I've become somewhat of a central figure in it all (although quite unwittingly I can assure you). There's a certain mentality on internet forums that dictates some who fail with logic resort immediately to personal insults in order to score 'points'.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not feigning total innocence myself or trying to play the victim (I give as good as I get) but it's the nature of the beast to a certain extent. Internet forums, particularly anonymous ones, can give rise to the best and worst in people. I've tried to set a line for myself where I wouldn't say anything on here that I wouldn't say in person.
^
If you don't enjoy it then why do you get involved in it.
Why not just ignore it ?

(reach to make sure i have my money and bike keys and see where the nearest exit is)
^ But that's really kinda my point - other than the genuinely nasty stuff (attacks on family, unfounded accusations) it doesn't actually bother me. Trust me, if I was getting angry at something some anonymous idiot was typing from somewhere I wouldn't bother logging in.
As to why not ignore it? Couldn't honestly say mate. Part of me like twisting fishermen on their own hooks I guess.
[Edit]
Generalised boredom's a factor too I guess if I'm being honest. Particularly as I'm for all intents and purposes stuck at home most the time.
Erm, yes, as has been pointed out repeatedly. Only admin and mods are familiar with the inaccurate division of 'upper' and 'lower' forum half.Originally Posted by hillbilly

Yep, that's repeatedly been suggested as well. Different forum sections are moderated to different standards, most members do not realise what standards these are, and I sometimes am not sure the mods know either.Originally Posted by Wayne Kerr
not a bad forum they manage though is it.Originally Posted by stroller

Why? Seems important to have general membership understand the distinction if we have some obligation to comply with specific posting norms.Originally Posted by stroller

I dunno bout top and bottom. I go straight for today's posts. After about seven or eight hours, I go to different section to read the shit I missed. I'm a very sad bastard.
Seriously. What's the problem? Gardening is for gardening. The lounge is for banal banter. Ray Carey and I slug it out in Issues, but if he or I made a post in the Visa section I wouldn't expect him to call me a kunt. (but I'd slip one to him later!)
I like TD the way it is.

I dont believe that, prove it that you can stop all your bickering and arguing. You Stroller, BG and Earl are a fokin nightmare for most people trying to enjoy this forum.Originally Posted by AntRobertson

That's a complete and utter nonsense, Spin. I don't doubt you've got a valid complaint but at least try to keep some perspective and objectivity to it.Originally Posted by Spin

You'll know soon enough when your posts get deleted, and then you can have a pop at the mod, if you know who it is.Originally Posted by Norton

I have always thought this is a very lightly moderated forum and I like it that way. Some people seem to get a bit obsessed with the thing in the same way that spotty teenagers are obsessed with their online gaming, but on the whole it ticks over nicely.
So far none have been deleted so whatever the norms are I must be complying in ignorance. Starting a thread xxx is a cnut is not in my bag of tricks as you have by now noticed. Far to many interesting posts in issues for me to be bothered with wasting my time. Guess I'm just not combative enough!Originally Posted by stroller

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect,"

I like the bits where CMN admits stuff like ruining some blokes passport or the car door incident. Is that the top half or the bottom half of the forum?
same forum as a couple of relationship train wreck threads i think.Originally Posted by slimboyfat

by the way i just added a thread in the Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong section about Chinatown
I still have chafing issues after walking around so much that day so I hope someone will have a look. At the thread that is, not the chafing.

Sweat issues, too, I'll wager.
