    Blessings of St Patrick

It looked like the coast of Galway at the beach today with the weather hanging heavy over an iron-clad ocean and the steely waves rolling steady

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sunshine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand

I was searching in the kitchen cupboard for some inspiration for lunch... and it must have been fete, hey Reg!

I usually keep a tin of Guinness for my steak and kidney pie sauce... after the first batch I freeze it in portions and one tin lasts well over a year.

    But not this one.

I had it while preparing tonight's repetitive liver in a sloppy bacon and onion gravy.

I had a go at 'splitting the L'... no trouble.

I found it at lunchtime, stuck it in the fridge for the afternoon.

    Drank it chilled tonight!

There's no flies on us Isaanites!

In fact there are, the b@stard flies are doing my head in lately.

A day's rain, assured a big hatch the following night...

Meawyn was of course dressed in blue oufit and wasn't in fact a saint, real serpentwrangler nor Irish, sure let not the truth disturb a party.

Also had you ever sat at my godmothers knee in Galway you might, on those rare days when its not raining see Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer Isle where my Basque/Black Oirish forbears washed up as ill eagle settlers 1589 .

Of course it's not where we come from , It's where we are going as an lusty suitor knows.
Slainte , cheers loopy, glad you survived a night with Alfred anf only your trees were floppy.

^^Have not listened to that one from Christy Moore in a long while. Nice.

I learned to play this one on the guitar recently

Nice to see that Paddy Hemingway, from Dublin, the last surviving member of 'The Few' who flew a Hurricane in the Battle of Britain managed to squeeze in one last St Patrick's Day before leaving for the great squadron in the sky, at the age of 105.

    Blessings of St Patrick-1cd2f120-0387-11f0-bee4-a1264feab608-jpg

Bailed out 4 times in his career, once breaking his hand on the tailplane and then snagging a tree with his chute, preventing him hitting the ground, when it failed to open properly. Talk about the luck of the Irish!

He bailed out on the coast near Essex once and his Hurricane was recovered in 2019 with the gun-button still set to the fire position on the control column.

    Erin go bragh. What champion.
