^^^I'm with misskit on this one. How will they know that it's their final decision/ sexual identity at the age of 11 or 12? They're still kids at that age - not mature enough to make decisions whether they want to be a boy/ girl/ gender neutral, etc. Injecting hormones that are foreign to your system effs up the mind/ emotions as well.
I talked once with a young gay man who was transitioning. He said he was injecting hormones at that time. He said the hormones made him very weepy, emotional, depressed sometimes. This was maybe 4 yrs ago. I haven't seen him/ her since, so I don't know if the transition is complete. He/ she was in the early 20s then.
@planK - thanks for the info/correction. Yes, having grown up as males (or experienced puberty as males) give them more advantage, esp in sports.
This is the case of the US swimmer that I mentioned earlier. She has now filed a case against the authorities in swimming.
