    Holy Crap.

£4:40 for a small bottle of Leo.

    Unbelievable.

Any wonder people drink at home.

    Or at Wetherspoons.

It's the 12 fucking quid for a khao pad moo/gai that gets me and which is (one of the reasons) why I can count the number of times I've eaten Thai food outside of SE Asia on the fingers of one hand.

If there were only Leo, Carlsberg and Fosters on tap... I'd opt for a Leo.

Funny. My wife and I, when we lived in the states, NEVER ate at a Thai restaurant for that very reason. My wife said no way I am paying 10X or more for Thai food that isn't really Thai food. The only Asian type food I eat in the US is Sushi and Sashimi.

But for ones who watch YouTube and food shows and who can't travel will pay for it and best part is when they brag to their friends. Hey this restaurant serves "Authentic" Thai food but have never been to know.

Nope. Those are all crap. Hand me a bottle of water. I'd sooner go without and wait until I get home and make my own drink.

When travelling in the states we generally dont eat Thai either, more for the fact its not Thai 99% of the time rather than the cost. Believe it or not we hit a Panda Express say once every two weeks for a "rice fix". Can always find a few dishes that are okay.

I have to eat Thai once a year on our anniversary.

Normally costs around 150 quid and I'm hungry again an hour later

As you know ( Or maybe you don't) passed Napa city limits heading north they cannot have any chain food restaurants. No MC'ds, No BK, no Carls Jr, nothing which is refreshing quite honestly. When I fly back I have to drive him all the way over to Sonoma for some Panda Express. My wife will not eat it but fortunately there is a dim sum place next to it so she grabs food there.

^ Kids and wife jonesing for some rice. Gave it a shot and it sure as hell was better and cheaper than any Thai I have found. Reminded me of the old Cantonese Chinese restaurants that first opened in Marin in the 60"s. Chop Suey, Chow Mein and Fried rice with butterflyed prawns.

Looks like ZAAP in Newcastle Toon. Tried once only.
Mantra for some great Thai Food and some Real Ale in the Crown Posada if need be, is good for me.

Yeah. Ole Hector whips up a good Chow Mein. I ate it a few times. When I am having a rice need, I do Japanese.

To be authentic, do they replicate the rancid stench that emanates from the open drains in Thailand ?
