Very nice, MM. Thanks for the pics. Reminds me of my time in Keukenhof Gardens (Netherlands).
Do you live in/ near Ottawa? I had a classmate in language class - he was a retired gentleman from Ottawa. I searched for him on FB but he hasn't posted for several years - I think he's passed on. Farewell, D.S. I hope you're in a good place now.
Thanks Katie! Glad you enjoyed them. Yes,I live in Ottawa and attended both universities here as well.
Too bad about your friend.
Yeah, I hope he's resting in peace now. I first heard abt Ottawa from him. We sat beside each other in language class. I was learning the language to survive in that country. He was a tourist and was learning it for fun - to keep his brain active, he said. He already knew 3 (or 2.5?) languages. During that time, he already had a lot of medications - he showed me his pill box. I think he had diabetes/ hypertension (or both) plus he had to take some anti-rejection pills because he was an organ recipient. I lost contact with him and thought of FB only recently, but I think he's passed on. Farewell, D.S. I hope you enjoyed your later years.

On a happier note, the tulips look great!
Thanks wonderful pictures and a reminder of that awful winter still a vivid memory, strong anti German sentiments among old when I lived their 1970s
I studied a while in Leiden and cycling north to Haarlem the utterly flat landscape was decked in tulips.
The humpback bridges on the country roads rise a metre or so where you see these weird vivid colors, getting over dykes has its compensations.
It's a major export industry .They are sold wholesale at the unique style Dutch auction system
The price starts high and as it lowers a buyer has to leap in before the competition
What Is a Dutch Auction?
A Dutch auction (also called a descending price auction) refers to a type of auction in which an auctioneer starts with a very high price, incrementally lowering the price until someone places a bid. That first bid wins the auction (assuming the price is above the reserve price), avoiding any bidding wars. This contrasts with typical auction markets, where the price starts low and then rises as multiple bidders compete to be the successful buyer.
Financial markets employ a slightly different variant. There, a Dutch auction happens when investors place bids for a security offering, specifying what they are willing to buy in terms of quantity and price. The price of the offering is then determined after taking in all bids to arrive at the highest price at which the total offering can be sold. Dutch auctions can be used to sell Treasury securities, initial price offerings (IPOs), floating-rate debt instruments, and other securities.

Why is this a one star thread?
Mind boggles sometimes.
Did a 20 km bike ride today and saw a lot more tulips and other cherry blossoms and flowers today.

Colourful.![]()
I'm not sure if you have one leg way shorter than the other, or bizarrely take photos with an uneven horizon for some reason?
I might edit a few of the photos later to improve them.
Cropping out the noise.
Fixing the hues and vortexes.
Famed botonygrapher Lizelle McPhartison would still be unimpressed, I fear.
Nice to see the colour though. Cheers MM.

The fact it was in the 1970s was due to Jesus being born before me and them not having Buddhist dates or figs to figurey tout, I blame my mum there was a mix up on the shopping list between condoms and condimnets I believe.

Interesting thread mm. Many would be surprised that Thailand is a big grower and exporter of tulips, mostly going to india.strangely enough. In Australia we cant grow them but we did have a guy called tiny tim who played the ukelele and was an instant hit with his debut song, tip toe through the tulips . Prefer orchids personally , and had an abundant supply of wild ones in Lao when the excavator had to push over a tree to make a drill pad, i would get the orchid ( if any) from the downed tree,
