Took a bike ride to the local coffee shop to get a green tea with lime to cool off. I was bombarded by young kids in the back of truck tossing water on everyone. nice cool off.

Sat and waited for my green tea. At this point it was only 97 degrees at 10:30am

Friends showed up around 11am and we set up a moo Kah Tah cook inside our downstairs area with the AC on full.

After lunch I headed to the pool area to get it ready for all to swim. ( Sorry Tax and SA. I know how you hate the good life

)

Well Geeeezzzzuuus A Corist was it hot today. Topped 108.

Had some of wife's family over today for some lunch and swimming.

Her cousin came by with her 5 week old newborn twin daughters, Yui and Toey. Yui and I hung out for a bit and it looks like I have a new hammock trainee...

Cleaned up pool area while swimmers changed and we all headed off to dinner.

I suspect a lot of the water play was in the shade! Looks like the kids enjoyed it though!

Took 6 hours to get back to BKK from Hua Hin. Good luck to anyone travelling tomorrow...

I once made the mistake of travelling to Pattaya the week after songkran…not realising that’s when the city of Pattaya celebrates Song kran. Never again.

Yeah. That is always the issue if you travel. I think the best way is extend the trip 2 days and let all the nonsense blow over. Much nicer drive. I used to hear of all the BKK to Korat/Isaan lunacy. I left 1 day earlier and waited 2 days after. Just not worth the anguish.

Last day of the holiday. Travel should be whack and in 40c + weather in some areas.

Went by the Thai Wat so she could purchase some food and make a donation. Just a few kids playing with water.

Not as many people here as what we’ve seen in Tampa, but the (yearly Songkran) crowd is growing.

Mae Phim is one of the most civilised Songkran's I've ever done and even got me joining in.

There's a four lane road along the beach that they make into one way for the festival, and even so it's just a car park. We were discussing the merits of those "Thai Hummers" as one went past. Half an hour later we noticed it had only gone about five yards.

There's none of those stupid backpackers or tattoo'ed oiks aggressively throwing buckets at motorcyclists and the like, just small handheld buckets and water pistols.

All thoroughly enjoyable, and the Thais there are as nice as pie.

With that and the clear skies it was a welcome break from all the tourist trash packing the streets of Chiang Mai.

Still that godawful Isaan music though. Some of the trucks had sound systems that would probably do a good job of filling a nightclub.

Actually, Chonburi province traditionally celebrates it on their own Wan Lai day (translates as flowing/pouring day) on the 19th. Kinda unique compared to the rest of Thailand.
