Not sure if this has been considered before but how about a forum for crime, accidents and drunken and other routine mishaps?

Am not familiar with how these things work either logistically or at the admin level, but just been browsing some of the Pty media and seems a lot of interesting stuff hasn't made it to TD.

It’s the legendary mother-in-law
It’s a well known fact that mothers and daughters in law don’t always get on too well as instanced by a recent case involving police lieutenant Aniwatana Thican who received a phone call from a lady claiming to be black as well as blue. Officers hurried to the Nong Su karaoke in Soi Yume and there found 18 year old Miss Nittaya Seawsawad who was crying in her room after apparently being hit several times.
Miss Nittaya told that the bane of her life was her mother in law Mrs Supab Keawfa who forced the younger woman to work in the karaoke by talking to customers, helping to choose songs and so on and so forth. Miss Nittaya said she didn’t mind working but her husband really went bananas when he came home and found that his 18 year old wife was sitting intimately with customers of the karaoke. Miss Nittaya said she was between a rock and a hard place, doomed if she did and doomed if she didn’t.
One night recently, Miss Nittaya was using the mobile phone that her husband had given her but the evil mother in law tried to snatch it away, claiming that the hand phone was needed for business purposes and was not to be wasted on idle chit-chat. Miss Nittaya had retreated to her room but the mother in law had smashed the door down to get at the telephone. During the fight that followed, the younger woman sustained injuries to her face and feet. Police sent Nittaya to hospital for a check-up and appealed to the husband to be an intermediary between this particular Cindrella and the allegedly wicked step-mum.

Shoe shine man also cuts throats

Beware of befriending strangers
Pattaya police were called to investigate an unfortunate tale of a shoe shine man with a very nasty temper indeed. Mr Joachim Ertl from Germany and his lady friend Miss Boothum Suriwong were drinking whiskey at a beach front bar when a cheerful shoe shine guy introduced himself with a cheery word. Consequently, the Thai man known as Mr Sanit was invited to sit down and partake of the bottle of whiskey and mixers even as free and easy conversation continued.
But unfortunately Mr Sanit became amorous towards Miss Boothum and soon his hand was wandering up her legs and even shockingly towards her “pudenda” or strictly private areas. To put the matter mildly, Mr Ertl was none too pleased to be a witness to these proceedings and an argument started in which Mr Ertl was cut in the throat by the shoe shiner and lay in agony on the pavement crying out for assistance.
It was too days later that Miss Boothum happened by happy coincidence to see Mr Sanit walking along beach road which prompted her to summon volunteer police assistance to get the guy into the police station. Here, Mr Sanit said he had only acted in self defence as the foreigner had used a lot of swear words. None the less, he promised to stick to shoe shining in future rather than attempted murder. However, this can happen only after a judicial sentence has been served.

At the formal interview before lock up, Mr Panya stated that his mother had been very ill and did not have money to pay for the bill. Consequently he went to his friend Tirapong for advice and it was he who suggested that they have a bout of bag snatching in order to make ends meet. They had tried twice in the past but their foul deeds had been unrewarded as on one occasion the bag contained only a stale sandwich and on another occasion just a five baht note.
The Russian lady Tatiana said she was walking back to her hotel with another Russian when she felt a tug and soon realised what had occurred. But the two culprits seemed to dither and were detained by a group of bystanders with good hearts. The two men will not be seen in the boxing room for a while now as they have an appointment with a judge.

Looks like a professional job
An obnoxious character successfully broke into all six rooms on the second floor of the Big Bank apartment house in soi Roiland just off the main Naklua road. Cat rescuer ends up in hospital

Samaritan pays a hefty price
A man who successfully saved a cat from being mauled and maybe killed by his two dogs slipped and injured himself during the process of assistance. Mr Chenakan Panchana, aged 30, was relaxing at home when he heard a rumpus outside after his two hounds had cornered a roaming cat which was in a state of terror.
Mr Chenakan used a chair from his house which he placed on the ground and mounted to give himself leverage to grab hold of the cat which was atop a spiked wall. Unfortunately, as he did so, the chair began to sink into the muddy ground after a prolonged rainfall which caused him to lose his balance. As he struggled to maintain balance, a security metal spike caught his hand and proved to be irremovable as well as extremely painful.
Neighbours came to the rescue and the ever useful Sawangboriboon foundati on volunteers took only 20 minutes to free him and despatch him to hospital for the stitching. He said later that he knew from the noise outside that his dogs had cornered a smaller animal. It was pure instinct that led him to intervene to save the cat, but he failed to notice that the soft ground failed to provide the support for the chair with a man’s weight on it.

Police and the Sawangboriboon foundation were summoned urgently as it was no clear if the sextet had sufficient air to breathe. The group included three men, two women and a child. One of those stranded was police lieutenant colonel Samram Kamwattana who phoned the authorities from his mobile phone. Another captive man telephoned the condo security and asked for immediate assistance. In all, it took 20 minutes for rescuers to free the harassed individuals.
Police said later that the condo had several blocks each with their own elevator. On the day in question, the wonky lift could not be accessed at the ground floor and persons were entering it at the second or mezzanine floor. The six trapped people experienced one or two bumps and a strange noise before the lift stopped between floors, thus effectively barring their passage.

Man dies after woefully ignoring medical advice
Did not alter doomed life style
An American former mechanic, Walter Lewis Andrews aged 74, died of a presumed heart attack after continuing to smoke and drink with a heart problem. Police received an urgent call to go to a two storey residence near Pattaya Klang after a friend of the dead man also lived and found him beyond earthly salvation.
The friend Mr Dwight Teunisson, aged 51, told investigators he had gone out for the day and returned in the evening to a real shock. He explained that he had met Mr Andrews some time ago and agreed to let him live in the house as he felt sorry for the guy who had run out of funds. He had formerly lived in a house near the Crocodile Farm but had been forced to quit as funds dwindled.
Mr Andrews had a weak heart and frequently experienced breathing difficulties, but had refused doctors’ orders that he quit booze and fags. Woman leaps after lover’s betrayal
Miss Mai Pimayrai, aged 32, jumped from the third floor of a beer bar in soi Lenkee in what police described as a desperate plea for help rather than a determined suicide bid. Police major Somporn Nakampan went to the fourth storey building with his back-up where he noted that there were rooms for rent on the upper floors. The woman was taken to Banglamung hospital for bodily repairs.
She said later that she had a British boyfriend Charley, aged about 40 and from UK, but she now felt double-crossed.
This is because she had unearthed evidence of a tryst in a bedroom at the premises between him and the female cashier who was in her 20s. After finding out what had been going on behind her back, Miss Mai stated that she felt most miserable and lonely.
This state of mind was responsible for her taking a leap although she was aware the distance was not great enough, in all probability, for her to sever all connection with this mortal plane.

Force from beyond the grave requests help
Woman discovers skeleton after guidance
A forty four year woman stumbled across human remains after the former human
apparently approached her to find a permanent resting place. Mrs Laore Katsind, aged 44 and an ox keeper, was taking an afternoon nap when she sensed a shadow moving across her. This happened more than once as she was dozing and she even spoke to her husband about the odd encounter.
Soon afterwards, Mrs Laore felt moved to go outside and was drawn to a tree. There, lo and behold, she discovered a skeleton of human remains which had been there more than a year. Police were summoned and they said there had likely been a violent cause of death as there was a bullet hole in the head, or what remained of it. There were no identifying signs, nor any useful evidence such as an ID card, so police will need to look through their files of missing persons.
Mrs Laore feels she was irresistibly drawn to the secluded area of the tree – there were no houses just there – because the spirit of the man was still lurking in an earth bound state and wanted to be removed to a more proper final site. Sawangboriboon volunteers said it was likely the body, if unclaimed, would be reburied at their graveyard which is specially organised for corpses without relatives or anyone to show an interest in their welfare.

Nervous British man seeks Thai justice
Says he was victim of scam
A 45 year old Britisher Daniel Waito, now in Pattaya in hiding, has appealed to the
national crime suppression unit after complaining that both he and his wife suffered
harassment and violence on Ko Chang island. His wife Mrs Rattana explained that they had been together for 10 years but decided to move to Ko Chang after selling up in the United Kingdom three years ago.
The couple bought a piece of land and resort called
Backpacker on the island on a 30 year lease arrangement and did very well there with their 24 rooms for rent and miscellaneous holiday delights. Then a Thai man identified only as Mr Pomnatee offered to buy them out for 5.5 million baht but paid a deposit of only 100,000 baht.
Mr Pomnatee started to renovate the premises and moved his own workers in, but failed to complete on the cash deal. At one point he said the place was worth only 4 million baht, but in any case had paid up only on the small deposit. Quarrelling soon started up and, on October 6, Mr Pomnatee is alleged to have brought five men and punched both the British guy and his wife. In fear of their very lives, the couple decided to flee.
They went first to the tourist police and urban police on the island who said the problem was an unhappy contract which needed to be sorted out by negotiation. In vain, did the couple point out you can’t negotiate with ten fists all raised in anger. The couple then moved to Pattaya for safety reasons as they allegedly received no support locally. They have now appealed to the police crime suppression department where major general Pongdapatana Chayapan has promised to look into the matter most properly. He said that nobody, not even Thais, should be above the law which is true enough.

The Russians are indeed coming folks
More than a million a year expected
Thai tourism officials and members of the Pattaya authority, led by mayor Nirun Wattanasartsathorn, attended Leisure 2007 in Moscow to boost Russian interest in the eastern seaboard as a holiday destination for the increasing numbers wanting to vacation abroad. In 2006 there were 482,000 Russian tourists in Pattaya, in itself a 40% leap from the year 2005. In the current year the number will likely reach 600,000 persons with a further jump to one million anticipated by 2009.
Tourism authority officials and elected members from Pattaya conversed a great deal with Russian visitors to the roadshow. Many Russians said they had had glowing reports from their friends who had pinpointed the resort as a centre of excellence for cuisine, entertainment and sport, not to mention other diverse activities. It was mooted that Pattaya should hold a festival every year, specialising in Russian culture, to welcome the expected rush of visitors.
Russian ambassador Supod Teerakaosan visited the Leisure 2007 event and said he was impressed by the tourism authority’s marketing plans. He explained that, in Russia, Pattaya was the most famous beach resort in Thailand and had been hugely successful in providing joy and pleasure.
