Making progress on my drainage system behind the big shed

You drill holes in the 90mm stormwater pipe

    Show us your bodgy DIY-20250102_204036-jpg

Then lay it with the holes downward in a trench dug into the soil. The trench contains a sheet of geofabric that is very water permeable but will hold back dirt. (No Malmo/Stumpy DeWalt equipment required. $36 Chinese drill is the biz!)

    Show us your bodgy DIY-20250103_194234-jpg

Then put some gravel in between the pipe and the fabric to give the water some space to run down to where the holes are

    Show us your bodgy DIY-20250102_202704-jpg

The water then enters the pipe through the holes and flows away instead of building up in muddy puddles behind the shed

Each 6m length has contour to slot together

    Show us your bodgy DIY-20250103_183224-jpg

But if you are joining an odd section you can bodge the connection super bodgy style since the pipe is supposed to be leaky to let the water in

    Show us your bodgy DIY-20250103_183231-jpg

Make sure to put rocks on top of the pipe so it does not try to float when the water pressure builds up on the outside of the pipe or you will be repeating the gravel laying from scratch!

Good man. I set up a proper drainage system on a property before the last rainy season with the beneficial consultation of a far more knowledgeable English friend.

I designed it up, new guttering (installed by a Thai company), 6 new downpipes, into a new system of 4 inch pipes, overkill was better than underkaks imo.

Ol' matey came over for a day or two of cutting and connecting it all together with me.

Seeing it work absolutely perfectly during the rainy season downpours was almost orgasmic.

It was a relief to get my downpipes fixed last year. I left that one up to the professionals as it was tin square piping. This PVC is easy peasy DIY territory (plus no fannying around at the top of a wobbly 6m ladder which also helps).

Another day, another trailer of gravel (maybe I should get a flashing orange light for my bike when I am pulling heavy cargo).

And a chainsaw to dispatch my fallen tree.

Scavenged an endcap from some old bits of pipe for my gravel encroachment prevention.

I excitedly await the next torrential downpour for a system test...

Have you ever watched a 1970's British TV comedy called "Rigsby" Loops?

I reckon it will be right up your alley.

How do I go about testing if there is an electrical charge going the headlight without using my tongue?

An aftermarket LED headlight suddenly stopped working, after taking it apart it seemed as if a cable in the loom was broken, sent it off to a mate and he fixed it up and sent it back as good as lulu.

Connected it back up and still nothing.

So want to check if it is an issue with the cables etc or the LED headlight unit.

I kept the OEM headlight when swapping it out around 10 yrs ago but now can't find the OEM loom/cables and the aftermarket ones are different.

I presume there's a wee gadget called a voltomoner or some shiz on Lazada that I can touch the cables with and it will tell me the voltage?

Hey mate, I'd assume it would be the same as your battery voltage ie 12V
