It's just the food allowance by the way and I don't want to rob the company.

previously I've just eaten where I can and hand in the reciepts. Now we don't have to hand in reciepts but are stuck with a (low) limit.
Thanks again for all your responses.

I think that, rather than do "cut and paste" from peoples opinions, a better way would be to show the actual costs of your previous visits

you used to hand in receipts, so they have the numbers

unless you ate at top class hotels all the time, as I would given the chance!
    I have reported your post

Cujo, you need to learn how to play a few games with your expense reports. First, find a good hotel with good breakfast included. That saves one meal. Not sure of your budget, but if you stay at 4 & 5 star places, you can book the executive club floor and not only get free bfast, but free evening drinks & free dinner if the hors d'oeuvres are good enough. Then, take your remaining budget and use it for lunch.

At the same time, even if lower priced hotels, stay at one where you can fudge the line items. In other words, charge lunch or dinner or room service and get them to call it laundy, or internet, or phone charges, etc..

There are lots of ways around cheap companies policies that won't get you caught. hehe.

They'd CRAP themselves if I booked a 5 star hotel.

I do try and do the right thing by the company but they're making it difficult.

I don't know about Bangkok, but if you tried to spend that much on food perday in Pattaya you would be limited to about 5 restaurants, and at least one of those meals everyday would have to have imported lamb or beef in it.

200 a day would barely buy a coffee and sandwich. Very poor allowance. Seems to me that advice already given about increasing value for money is sound.

You mean your accomodation allowance is similar low?

Isn't there a thread by Njdesi about the Sawasdee Inn? You should have a look, your company might like the idea that you stay tehre.

Why should we think ourselves lucky that we are living in Thailand? It is just another country that foreigners like us pay a lot of money to live in, aint no luck involved in that.....

so you were on holiday. not the same.

fruit is almost a luxury in some western countries considering the prices we pay...as for lunch..soup with rice and pork/chicken surely is perfect and maybe something like sizzler for dinner at mbk..i ate a fine meal ther or chicken steak chips and unlimited salads and drink for 230 baht so this equates to around 300 baht a day plus drinks....sure coffee is nice to have all day long but are we forgetting just how lucky the hell we are...
erm, he bladdy working, that means he wants a decent breaky, not some typhoid flavoured fruit, and 10 baht does not a meal make.

and unless he's trailer trash he aint gonna eat at sizzlers, its crap food, and lacks hygene.

we come to places like thailand and try to live like kings..most of us do!!!! but goddam we should just think ourselves lucky and this is what a lot of ferangs forget....no wonder we get a bad name with a lot of thai people...lets show some respect to them and their culture and try to live a little like they do while there...when in rome
my my you are the starry eyed one.

hang on a second, how does eating at the bottom of the food chain like a burmese labourer show respect to thai people and culture?

maybe he should insist on a driver and a late model merc like the rest of the thais,

we could call that thai culture also.

Hahahahhahaha what a god dam comedian, you spent 7 weeks here and know how Thais live, you ate on the footpath and felt that you were cool because this is how Thai's live in your eyes. You went back home to your country and bragged about this and showed all your photos.

Get real, Cujo is not some wankey tourist, he is employed by a company in China sent to Thailand as their representive. As such he should expect his company to put him up in a decent hotel and also pay a food allowance and also living away allowance, from family, that would equate to how he is use to living. This is common you twat.
