Another aspect to consider when moving out of Thailand: (Recalling watching TV5 on Monday - quite interesting program every (2nd?) Monday 18:30 Tout compte fait):

Everybody of us needs now and then some repairs at home, especially when living in a house. When it happens in a developed country it can become a big headache, even if a small problem. The program followed few cases in French cities where e.g. a broken gasket under a sink can grow to hundreds of Euro. There are nowadays many Internet services offering such home repairs, many of them running like a SCAM.

Nothing like this can be a headache for people in Thailand, especially in rural villages. There is always a chaang nearby, who can do it for a kiss, buying the broken part at a hardware shop around the corner...

Yer, that's it innit.

Flexability is the key to life and the happiest Ex-pats are the punters who keep shit simple.

The ones who punch out kids and then realise that there ain't much future for the little fuker growing up in this shit house is full of angst and sticky pudding.

Now it's- ïf you leave Thailand you must be a loser". I take that to mean more western expats must be leaving than arriving.
Anyway, speaking as a serial loser who has come to and ultimately left many places on his own terms, think I'll just stay that way.
When I finally get the wedge from my Thai villa, reckon I'll give the Fil's a try. It's a joyful luxury being able to speak to the people, for a starter.
