Enjoy, I'm sure you've earned it.

Taking an early Easter holiday means I have to work while everyone else is off.

It's nice to spread a little joy and cheer!

A mates daughter was paying close attention to my collection of L S Lowry prints on my wall and told me about her school project and discussions.
So I gifted her a framed double I have to put on her wall and show her class on Monday.

    Daily or weekly cheer-20220402_234744-jpg

Its lovely to see such enthusiasm for a local artist in one so young.
She even knew the words to the song above!
    That smile made my day!
    Shalom

Living so close to Australia does have innumerable benefits for me. Mainly it is not difficult to source decent steak and other western consumables. The Australians love for Bali demands it. Sure there are a few bogan bums here, but that happens everywhere.
The overwhelming majority are decent sorts and mostly sports lovers, and therefore easy to get along with. Such social opportunities that do exist are largely due to their laid back attitude, and their ‘love’ of poms, and a good natured debate about our common ancestry.

While Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, Bali happens to have a significant (90%) Hindu population. The Hindu attitude is very much live and let live, leading to liberal licensing laws, (outside Covid-19 regulations).

All in all, this combination leads to a low pressure, civilised and laid back society, that mostly rubs along quite harmoniously.

Fair point. My missus wants us to retire there. Sounds like an ok deal to me.

Like everywhere, it has plus and minus points. If you add in the Oz connection for you, it’s probably a no brainer.

If you can avoid school holidays for trips back home, it’s still quite reasonable for natives.

Took the youngest swimming tonight, had the pool to ourselves for two hours. Was like being on holiday.
Used to go a few times a week before lockdown.
You members on here who have a access to a pool are very fortunate.

Your colder is Summer to us!
I'd be in that pool every day, although not in the "lostandfound" type of way.

My wife informed me today that she's really not that keen on visiting the UK this summer.

I'm way too experienced to immediately dance a jig or even let that feeling of glee pass across my face... I made all the right noises interspersed with phrases such as 'well, if you're sure...'

I'm now looking at 5 or 6 weeks alone with the littl'un... fossil hunting in Lyme Regis, the HMS Victory (another selfie opportunity to go with my one last year at the battle of Trafalgar site), a few days in London, maybe even a night in Shepton Mallet jail, etc etc, with more pies than you can shake a stick at, unlimited sausages and back bacon, and rough cider on tap throughout. The list is endless.

I may even make a thread of it.

Btw, does anyone fancy baby-sitting my 10 year-old daughter late June through to mid August?

Joe 90 perchance, or would it cramp your style? Or Reg Dingle... your daughter's the same age? Does she want a play mate for the summer hols? You know it makes sense.

^ My daughter can't wait, she loves visiting the UK.

It was a weak attempt at humour, tbh.

Even the explanation needs an explanation.

We'll have to meet up mate. I know some great country boozers that tolerate Mowgli and her mates

Fancy a riverboat adventure on the Oxford canal?

^ You're on mate, so long as I get to wear my Captain's hat.

But I've got my own rock collection, thankfully.
