Since the death of her father, the Queen has had to deal with a dysfunctional family. Margaret, Charles, Diana, Edward Harry and others have all let her down as she struggled with two responsibilities , often pulling her in different directions.
She is the head of the family, and she has to meet the duty as a mother, with her responsibility to the Crown.
Only Anne and William have performed the supportive roles required of them without letting her down.
There must be an element of frustration among the lesser royals as their route to the top of the family tree is subsumed by the birth of yet more siblings to replace them.
Anne, despite her divorce has accomplished this with diligence and a certain hard working grace. William just goes from strength to strength in the pecking order.
Mindful of her role as head of the house of Windsor, the Queen has had to cut the Royal ties and responsibilities of her second son. She is still his mum, no matter how old and stupid he becomes.
Not an easy task when you consider that next in line is Price Charles!
