This is why you grunt when you bend over :)

    Credit

You never think it's going to happen to you?

We stiffen the body, hold our breath, then slowly release it.

So we fill the lungs by breathing in and tense up the muscles of the torso to stabilise the spine.
We throw our arms forward to provide momentum and with this effort, we hold our breath to maintain that stability as we stand.

We then release the breath slowly or quickly, depending on the nature of the task.

    Here

    Any confirmed grunters here?
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

If there had been anyone around to observe me in the gym this morning it doubtless would've been a comical sight.

A lot of grunting and even whimpering today as I moved around in DOMs-inspired slow-mo.

    Pfttt ... what's your point?

If we ever meet, I could also touch your toes.

    Please, freshly washed socks please.

I will only lower myself so far
