Well,...might hafta wait for her to put on street clothes and text her teerak...
^So you know fuck all about it, except for everything you've mentioned above. Which you'd have read about somewhere, possibly on Thai visa, and clucked your tongue in disgust about. I came here for the pussy, and stayed for everything you don't get to read about. But carry on, you know best.
Obsessive defenders and apologists of Patters come forth...
Pathetic.
Ohhhhh so you've got many friends that have been here and your visits to Google back them up?. Well obviously that changes things big-time and you must know everything there is to know about Pattaya .
I've had so many friends and family visit me here, they've all loved it and all return. Shopping and markets and massages for the girls all day & golf for the boys, then a different restaraunt and pub each night to unwind (the choices of both are pretty much uncountable). Not one whore bar visited, not one scam attempt, no traffic jams if you're smart enough to avoid the usual bottle necks during peak times, and nobody landed on our heads after jumping off a balcony. Old foreigners (or coffin dodgers as you call them) are everywhere in Thailand, they're called retirees.
Nobody holds a gun to your head here and tells you that you have to go to whore bar areas, just as nobody holds a gun to your head in Vegas and tells you that you have to go to The Strip and Casinos. It's great to have the option though. I honestly don't expect you to understand any of this...
I am sick of people who knock Pattaya without ever having lived there. I had one of the best years of my life while I worked there. It says much about the posters themselves when they post in ignorance of the facts. They are of low intellect, have no opinions of their own, are easily led and are complete shitheads. Apart from that nothing wrong with them as long as they do not drink in my company.
Agree. First time I went to Pattaya I thought it was a shit hole. A day trip from BKK on a Saturday. Parked up went to the beach, swam, brown film on my skin, walked to the Queen Vic to buy sausages (Matvic Days) and thought "fuck me those dirty birds would get a portion - I'll come back for a party one time soon" but aside from that agreed with the cliche. Then the floods hit BKK and I had to move out. Phoned around a few places and the closet was Pattaya that had a place I could decamp with the dogs to. Lived on the dark side for a month and loved it which later prompted us to move to the dark side for a very enjoyable number of years. The sense of community was one of the draws of the place. Living somewhere is very different to holidaying there.
I lived in the "dark side" too. It was lovely. Bloody marvellous !
Seems to be a touchy subject with a few of you. I have been there. Never went anywhere near the hooker shit. Just driving around the area was enough for me. Buses loaded with tourists, horrific traffic etc. I declined a position that was located there because I personally did not want to be around the place. Its no different then say East Los Angeles or East Palo Alto. Sure some will say there are some pockets that are nice but nobody really wants to move there.
Yesterday in Pattaya had a gun pointed to my head and forced into a chip shop.
Right bastard that Dillinger.
I can live anywhere in Thailand I want. Can move tomorrow, and would if I found somewhere that suited me better. But in a few decades living in Thailand and a lot of miles racked up travelling around it, there's nowhere that even comes close when the parameters I want are considered. Depends what you're looking for I guess....
Why would you choose to live in Thailand and live in Pattaya where you have virtually no exposure to anything Thai whatsoever?
I just don't see the point.
I've been there countless times, and have mates who live there, but it's just Blackpool-on-sea with warmth and filth. All right if that's what you want, but it's hardly "living in Thailand."
The top and bottom of it is that it's a shithole for people who like the idea of living abroad but who are utterly clueless about Thailand - and don't wanna discover more - apart from the last grand in the hand they gave their Isaan brass.
