Favorite Vloggers Thailand based or Otherwise?

I have been following certain vloggers for years. I know a lot of people on here before when I've brought it up say that they don't like vloggers.
There are some interesting vloggers out there.

    Do you follow any?

Some of the ones I follow and most are either based in Thailand part time or full time. A lot of the vloggers I follow use drones and have some great footage. Adventurers at heart as well.

You can check them out if interested on youtube.

Paddy Doyle (used to be a TEFLer in CM, and quit his job three years ago and has travelled extensively in Thailand and many other places around the world, British Bloke with a Thai gf based part-time in Bangkok).

Mickey Stotch (Russian, but lives in Bangkok, speaks great Thai. He does a lot of street food, motorcycle tours around Thailand and beyond).

FloraandNote (Asian-Canadians. Note is originally from Thailand, Flora from Hong Kong. Moved to Koh Samui from Canada, vlog full-time and travel around Thailand, and many other places in Canada, and Asia).

SilkyRontheRoad (A married couple on their ten year honeymoon, great drone footage around Asia, He's Scottish, she's from the Netherlands.

TravelwithChris (American, great stuff in Thailand and all over Asia).

A great pastime of mine is keeping up with these guys, where I learn a lot about the world and how it is currently. Things to do, places to see, places to eat, places to stay. And quite a few laughs as well.

At least he was smart enough to get out. Not sure that a vblogger scrounger is any better or less dodgy.

where I learn a lot about the world

I try and teach my kids not to rely on social media for world news or facts.

Well these people are living it, and you get real prices, and real life info from people who go to different places.
I haven't been to Asia for awhile, so I am learning about certain places I haven't been, and also seeing places I have been perhaps how they are in this day and age.
Nothing wrong with it. I don't spend all day spamming forums something like you do a lot.

Nice, i'll check it. For someone like you who likes to travel, I'd check out some of the ones I mention. They have sets on different places if you want to visit a certain place you can check just those vids.

    What does this mean? Really?
Have you been to Antartica on a cruise and made videos about the whole experience with excellent drone shots.
Have you seen Thailand from the air?

These people are adventurers and do things that you or I may not do.

The only way to learn about a place is to turn off your internet, get off your fucking arse and go and see it for yourself. Learn from your own experience and mistakes, not through someone elses eyes.

Lonely planet books were the start of this descent into lazy travelling, those books and the mobile devices that superceded them enable people to travel the world in bubbles of isolation without having to ever speak to a local, to ask directions, to ask for information, or to engage on any level with the people or the culture they are visiting.

Vloggers ? They take all the excitement, all the anticipation and all the surprise out of travelling. i wouldnt give them the steam off my piss, and neither should you.

Did ‘these people’ inform you that Mae Jo is 90 minutes outside of Chiang Mai?

Hmm, not the ones I follow. Check em out before judging. Just a suggestion. You are allowed your opinion.
I forgot most people on here spend most of their spare time on here.

It happened a little before the Lonely Planet series.

You can blame Bernhard von Breydenbach and his travel guide to Jerusalem, and followed up by many other authors such as Paul Theroux, Colin Thubron, and Kri Herbert.

    ^^You’d better stay home.

    Leave Thailand to the ‘adventurers’.

Anyway, I’m off to have breakfast with a hill tribe.

    Laterzz.

Most tourists today are glued to their phones in search of the perfect sunset, the perfect plate of noodles or their own perfect smile and have little or no interaction with their surroundings or the native people that populate it. They float around in their own little bubbles oblivious to all else.

A dozier lot of elephant pants wearing narcissitic idiots would be hard to find.

Did you miss the part where I said most are based and have lived in Thailand for awhile, some are even from there and grew up there. Better to watch before you judge all tourists as the same.

If they are Thai vblogging about Thailand then they are not tourists.

Perhaps Michael Palin was the first vblogger with his BBC travel series. I blame him for the rot.

Oh ffs. 10 year honeymoon, Fucking narcissists, like the south american married couple on their 10 year cycle jaunt around the world. She was unfortunately gang raped by chickenheads in rural india last month, although i doubt that videos of her crawling semi naked out of her tent in full make up, tits flapping in the breeze every morning had anything to do with it. In india ffs.

Fucking internet, its making idiots of you all.

You're astute. Not many people would be keeping that name in the back of their mind. However, it neatly illustrates the point that your rant against Lonely Planet to be completely unfounded. Not for the first time, eh old chap?

I've watched some vids of Paddy Doyle but am not subscribed & don't follow him.

I sometimes watch Gabriel Traveler. If he's in a country that I'm interested in, then I'll follow his travels in that country.

I've watched some vids of Bald & Bankrupt but I don't like his style/ humor. I find him crass and sometimes condescending/ disrespectful of the locals. Also clickbaity titles - nah. There's also rumor of him being a "pickup artist", so no thanks. However, I get why he has millions of subs & views.

Sometimes, I watch Foresty Forest for the hiking & vanlife content. There are some solo travelers & couples that I sometimes check to see where they are and if their location is interesting to me.

Honorable mentions for Indigo Traveller and Eva zu Beck.

    DW Documentaries are good too.

Cat & dog short vids for the occasional laughs & cute factor.

LP were one of the first guide books providing information comprehensive enough that enabled travellers to find food, accommodation, train, boat and plane and a whole lot more without the necessity of engaging in converstion with local people.

theroux and others never did that in their novels or travelogues, and neither did palin. what they did was interact with local people.

travel is about engagement with locals, even the simple asking for information can lead to a whole new adventure/ experience/ friendship etc. i wont bore you with details of my extensive LP free travels through india, kashmir, ladakh, zanskhar, nepal, china, burma and laos in the eighties or the middle east and iran in the 70s other than to say i do know what i am talking about..... and you dont!

Paddy has some next level adventure hikes. He is a huge hiker and did a big series in the Phils. He just left Patagonia with some extraordinary scenery and before that was in Antarctica with some of the best scenery I've ever seen. Currently, Paddy just hopped in a van to go up north to start a bicycle journey from northern to southern Thailand.
