There are murmurs that the Rugby Sevens (if you don't know, one of the biggest regional piss ups of the year) might be left alone as it's out in the sticks, but not much fun to be had elsewhere......

Hotels and restaurants will refrain from serving alcohol on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1 as the UAE marks an important occasion in the Muslim Hijri calendar.Dubai Tourism asked licensed premises to halt serving drinks and hosting live entertainment between 5pm on Thursday and 6pm on Friday.The period coincides with a number of live, licensed events including Take That at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre and the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens.The move was implemented as a mark of respect as Muslims celebrate the Prophet's birthday.The other emirates are yet to confirm licensing hours but they are typically unified on religious holidays.

Mind you, if you bought tickets to a Take That concert, you deserve to suffer.

The amount should not exceed 4 litres of alcoholic beverages, or 2 cartons of beer (each consisting of 24 cans, not exceeding 355ml for each can or its equivalent). Passengers must be above 18 years of age for carrying allowable cigarettes or alcoholic beverages into the country.
