Pensions are for losers.

They are also for people who never had much of a chance to save, but worked diligently all their lives. My grandparents and parents are a case in point.
They are also for people like myself that were injured and permanently disabled in my case in the Army.
I agree that investment is a good way to insure a future, but tell that to the many single fathers, that have had their lives destroyed by lawyers and government child support laws.
Losers are the ones that get handouts - like the permanently unemployed, or the immigrants to the UK from third worls countries.
And then do nothng in return for the handouts, like finding a job, and paying taxes.

I will take my old age pension when I reach that age, I paid my taxes, and they owe me.

Well, I'm 58. Started working for the Feds as a Peace Corps Volunteer when I was 21. (I paid in to the retirement system to get pension credit for that time.) I took some time off here and there, but retired at age 55 with 32 years in. And Milkman things I'm lazy....

I'm not sure what the basic state pension is now, about 65 quid a week for a single person? Anyway, I'm amazed that you managed to survive on such an amount even going back a few years. I personally couldn't manage on less than 60k a month, and that isn't even including the cost of a weekly trip for a soapy massage down Ratchada(sp).

If I ever run out of money, my plan is to draw all I can off of my UK visa card accounts & disappear.

I've no idea how much I spend, but it's pretty much all I earn. I really must do better.

I'm truly envious of those getting by on less than 50k pm, no kidding, and that's without a high life or extravagant other half, rare drinks and even rarer exes on the side. Says much that mrs declined with no hesitation my offer to give her 60kpm for her to take care of all expenses less visas and trips. Don't know where it goes but it does.

Exactly. I worked very hard for 45yrs and paid my contributions every month. Now I get SOME of the cash I put into the pot back.

Living in Krabi costs me about 60 to 70K per month.
