^ It's a fuck up. It's clearly the case that the British government and the police are absolutely furious about it and if the Manchester police say that it's harmed their investigation, I've got no reason to doubt them. And from the American point of view, infuriating an ally as reliable as the British for no reason at all is extremely stupid.

Heard this on the radio , the Americans have a vast data bank on all terrorist bombs , and their design and materials used, data from Iraq and neighbours.
Their library got sent parts used in the Manchester bomb to try and identity its origins.
That was apparently where the leak came from.
They didn't want the bomb maker to know they had something on him.

That's a pretty stupid thing to say, even for you, and that's saying something.
Photos of the crime scene and the clues gathered don't expose anyone as anything .

The Americans named the killer and so alerted the accomplices that the police were on their tail. The Americans have acted recklessly.

^ I'm sure any accomplices would have read, seen or heard the news about the bombing and would be able to deduce that it was 'their man'.

You are an amazingly stupid person. Obviously the accomplices knew who he was but there was every chance that the police did not as he had been blown to bits !

The Americans told the accomplices that the police knew who he was.

Whys is it so hard to understand? Cops have evidence. They need to keep that evidence secret during the investigation so suspects don't get alarmed and so they can check the veracity of any information they receive. What the Yanks have done is release that evidence into the public domain. Now, as just one example, every fucker in the world knows the make of the backpack containing the bomb. If that had been kept secret that knowledge could have demonstrated the veracity of an informer. Now it's all out there in public the Yanks have screwed the investigation. Luckily the British appear to have done a bloody good job before the Yanks moved in to queer the pitch.

LMAO, even the British haven't gone to lengths to make the wild jumps you're making. They are just saying they wanted the name of the bomber to remain a secret to round up accomplices.

Naff all to do with security.

British government are angry because they like to keep the identity of the suspect hidden, ie the fact it was a Muslim, an immigrant, a fake refugee and a North African wog, untill at least next day - just in case the British males wake up, grow a pair, and take action.

Even with social media, everyone having a camera phone, they still manage to bury any chatter about the suspects identity to page 23245 of google search..

BBC were running with balloons popping and a mecca like stampede.

Then our cousins in USA releases the info it was a suicide bomber !

Yes the Americans Fooked up on this one. The U.S. government should have come out more strongly and admitted their mistake and apologised. Unfortunately the way they have handled it smacks of arrogance to their best defence partner. This,no doubt, will be a sore point and will stick in the craw of British intelligence.
The normally reserved British by showing publicly how ticked off they are should be a warning to the U.S. they are absolutely livid over this.
Culture lesson for Americans. When the British say, "You know old chap I'm not very happy about that leak." It means " is there more than one brain cell in that department you pack of forking imbecilic coonts!"

    Seek help.

    BTW
Several people present at the concert, at the other end of a sizeable arena, noted that the sound was muted since it was in the foyer and that initially it sounded like a balloon popping.

The Britsh intelligence services shared top secret intelligence with the US intelligence services, as is standard. The US intelligence services then shared that intelligence with the media.
Bob, what exactly do you base your statement /(assumption) on ?
Is it factual or assumed ?

Tbh, during the live feed of the attack, the UK-based Beeb were still reporting the explosions as "balloons", while CNBC on the next channel were correctly identifying a suicide bomber.

The linked article in the OP makes it sound that way.
No it doesn't. It makes it sound like the Brits are pissed off with the US for leaking shit to the NYT.

Given that there were FBI agents involved in the investigation, it's not much of a step to determine which US agency the Brits are blaming.

I doubt it would have happened on Comey's watch.
Do you believe that an FBI ballstics/ ordinance investigator examining a crime scene would have access to the suicide bombers identity ?

^^Why on earth would any news channel be 'reporting' balloons popping in any format? Let alone as breaking news?

    Nice try.

Not ridiculous Berty but a parody none the less. In my experience many Americans are not masters of subtlety while the Brits are. The advantage of Oz is being in between the two and able to see both.

Of course it's a mistake but not the disaster some are making it out to be. Whoever his co-conspiritors were, they did not need to have the fact that his name was made public as a motivater to go to ground. The US and Great Britain are allies. It's a not something to grind on to exacerbate divisions. We need each other to fight terrorism.

    Back to the OP.
Home Secretary Wood stated that the Manchester-born suicide bomber had already been on the radar of the British intelligence services.
Further the services wanted to control their information "to keep the element of surprise."
I would say by without denying their suspected terrorist the ability to successfully strike out against innocent citizens that they certainly did.

◇My words are intended without disrespect towards the victims.

    Edit: of surprise...
