Marrying a bar gal. Would you? Did you?

Yesterday, Pooly, the dog and myself were out looking for somewhere to have a nice lunch. As we walked past one place a number of gals who were sitting outside called out for us to come inside. We decided to look at the menu and went inside.
I was shocked, as when we entered we saw gals playing pool with no singlets on.

Anyway, they were all very nice and it was explained to me that these gals were called 'bargals' because they like to hang out in bars.

A very pretty gal asked me if I wanted to 'take care her' and I bought her a nice drink and asked her if she wanted to play a nice game of backgammon. I have to say that she was very friendly and we just seemed to get along from the start.

I was shocked when Pooly explained to me what her job was there in the bar and at first I didnt believe him.
The conversation continued and I found myself staring at my backgammon opponent wondering what made her decide to wrestle with falang for a living.
Pooly went on to explain that it was very likely that she was doing that job in order to find a husband. I though that this was a sort of 'try before you by' situation.

Anyway, it occured to me that, although she was very attractive and clearly ensconsed by my natural, windswept and interesting looks there is no way that I could or would ever having any kind of a relationship with her simply because she has had 3 kilometres of cock through her.

Call me fickle if you like or maybe even prudish but to my way of thinking marrying a gal like that is just not on.
I dont care how good she is at backgammon.

Am I right to think this way, or am I bringing my western sensibilities into play too much?

Would you marry a bar gal?

Marrying a bargirl is a little bit lazy isn't it.
Smacks a bit of desparation to.

There are lots of nice ladies out there so why on earth would anyone want to put themselves through that sort of misery.
I once had a bargirl girlfriend who refused to leave unless I gave her 10.000 baht.
I called in some harder bargirl friends of mine to get shot of her.

There is no hope for a bar girl marriage, none at all and I have yet to be proven wrong on that score. Bar girls are there to be shagged once if that's your cuppa tea.

They are all, without fail...BAD apples.

3 Kilometers of cock? OK, here's a quick analysis for the trivial minded amongst us. First, let us assume that the average cock is about 15cm long. So, 3K = 300,000cm/15= 20,000 cocks!!!

Hmmm, gives a whole new meaning to the term "high milege".

How long do they have to be together before you consider the relationship a success?

If you can make it through Snaff's 99 Ways to Impress Your Girlfriend and she hasn't run away howling, then I would say that's a successful relationship...

It's not really a question of length of service, more the happiness involved. I'm sure anyone in a happy relationship could consider it to be a success pretty much pronto.

Trust seems to be the issue. Without trust, hapiness gets jettisoned.

I can't think of a category of people less trustworthy.

I got to disagree with you on this CMN. You are lumping all bargirls into the one category, and, of course, all sorts of girls become bargirls.

Yes, there are those who make a profession out of it and are there just to get as much money as possible, dishonestly or otherwise. There are also those who find it the quickest way to make money to pay for some family crisis etc. Maybe the only job they can find.

I only know one bargirl well enough to judge, she is our housemate. I would say she would make a great wife and she is more honest than I am.

However, she is not a girl who sells herself, just a normal girl who wants to meet a nice farang to fall in love with. She works in the bar, not in the bed, so maybe she is not the several kilometre girl Capn is talking about.
    I have reported your post

I beg to differ - I'd say many sorts of women (or girls) become bargirls, but looking at the women I know here in LOS, most of them would rather starve than work in a bar - and yes, many of them are from Isan!

I think you have hit the nail on the head there Poolie. I have seen several marriages (between farang & bg) go sour because the man seemed to think that he could carry on as before. Sometimes believing she wouldn't find out (yeah, right!).

Then again, I have seen some marriages between farang & bg that have lasted (happily) for years. So never say never, but it is the kind of odds that I personally wouldn't have wanted to bet on. And it is not the type of game a newbie should play.

Once again, you are missing my point. I said all sorts become bargirls, but all bargirls are not sex workers. My housemate works in a bar, but she is not for sale.

    The two are not synonymous.

As for starving, that is one of the reasons many did start that work. Maybe the women you know have some sort of education and can choose a better job?

Perhaps I missed your point, but I think it is mutual. E.g my maid is not very well educated, comes from Khon Kaen, and I am pretty sure she would not even consider working in a bar, despite having the chance to earn several times more than I am paying her.

BTW - would you refer to the women working is such places as Shenanigans, The Londoner or The Dubliner as bargirls? - I think not. I am sure your house mate is a "good girl" (I know a few women like her myself), but simply by working with prostitutes, she has places herself lower on the social scale than shop assistants, street sweepers, market vendors, etc. It may be a good chance for her to practice English and perhaps one day meet & marry a farang who will take good care of her, so it may not be a bad choice of work - it is just that at the same time for most Thais (and apparently quite a few farangs) she will be "off-limits" just because of the workplace.

I know of two who are very happy together, but I agree with what you are saying.

Do you get a life membership to ThaiVisa if you marry a bar-girl?

Bargirls can be great fun, especially if they come with free drugs and swinging type friends, but marriage is kind of different.

in which case, I shall retract my original statement and suggest that 99% at the very least of these relationships are doomed to the knackers yard. Admittedly this is only slightly higher than the UK divorce rate.
Hell, I even managed to get a divorce in turkey where the rate is about 1.9%

Heavens above noon, I wasnee tempted at all. I was just thinking what makes a gal do that and wondered what everyone else thought about bargals. i have to say that all the gals were very nice to us. One of the gals even took Pooly upstairs to show him something.

I was chatting to a mate of mine over the holidays and he was telling me about a mutual mate that moved back to Scotland with his missus (BG out of Pattaya) and their little lad. Upshot is that she pissed of with some local lad(about her own age) and left matey to take care of the kiddy. He has been seriously ill and the lad was taken care of by the social because she wouldn't come and lend a hand. Sad, real sad.

The Turks are pound for pound the most beautiful women I have ever come across, up to the age of about 30 that is.

    And SK.
    Up your bum.
