I have a brain of my own, studied it myself...

They (and 'we' let's face it) tend to err on the side of cynicism, when we make judgements of people.
Although they do tend to view us all in the same light (lowest common denominator)...

Try being anything different than the norm... it does their head in... when I told Thais I sold skin care as well as taught Science + a few other things, you could almost see the steam coming out their ears... brain malfunction!

Farang teacher + salesman = mai kow jai... no compute... add to the mix I love Muay Thai (used to fight) and it's beyond their narrow definitions of a farangs limitations...

They need to compartmentalize you into a narrow box... now even younger guys than me, are doing all sorts of cool/entrepreneurial stuff in Thailand (not only teaching) web design/day traders/currency traders/male gigolos (Luigio and Dill) it's becoming less incomprehensible to them (slowly)...

There's a difference for farangs who live in a city to a farang who lives in a village up in Isaan etc in that a city farang will only hear, or be referred to, the word farang periodically. Whereas out in the sticks it's a case of spot the farang by the locals and to point, literally, it out to their partner. It can be a little bit annoying after hearing the word 10 or more times a day.
