It all worked that way for a few year. Seen a lot of SE Asia...long visists to Vietnam, Cambodia, and (lesser degree) Nepal. Several visits to Malaysia, Singapore. Brief visists to Philipines and Indonesia, playing football.

Went from teaching ESL to teaching Uni to trying to establish a decent business (got half way) then back to teaching Uni.

Decided I liked teaching enough to start to a GradDipEd (equivalent of PGCE...technically). That was my main reason for going quiet...shit load of work between earning a living and studying. I finish that in a month, but it will just go into the filing cabinet for the time being.

Anyway, out of the blue, while doing a month long stint teaching high school in Australia recently as part of GradDipEd, I got a call from my ex boss (banking) suggesting I apply for a particular role. Didn't want to at first, as it was contrary to my wife and my plans...but in the end, I threw my hat in the ring.

It's a good job, in a related field to what I used to do, but in an interesting company and location. Never thought after 4 years in Thailand I'd be a candidate for such a role still but low umemployment in Australia, particularly in finance, and maintaining past contacts, presented it to me.

On reflection, too good a deal to refuse.

But I'll be on the road again after a couple of years or so. Most likely Asia, but probably not Thailand.

But I dont (and wont) regret a minute of my time here. It is all part of life's experiences.

Great place, as long as you never take it too seriously or forget what it was that brought you here to start with...
Jeez, good luck mate!
