Bali Hai Sunset restaurant to be pulled down because of land encroachmenWell-known, and popular, sun-downer spot, the Bali Hai Sunset restaurant is to be pulled down after Pattaya officials declared it has been built on public land.
Pattaya City Hall has ordered that the Bali Hai Sunset restaurant on Cozy Beach be pulled down for encroaching onto public land.
The order was issued on October 8, to owner Ampan Thanwan, after repeated warnings that her 180 sqm establishment had been constructed on land that is publicly owned.
It was declared that over 80% of the restaurant encroached onto public land, Pattaya Land Surveyor Kris Cherdsuriya pointed out. This means the entire structure must be removed.
Amphan has been given forty-five days to comply with the demolition order. After which City Hall will order workers to move in and pull the restaurant down.
Amphan will then be given the bill for costs.
