Japanese man shoots Thai wife in Bangkok after court ruling
A sixty-year old Japanese national shot his Thai ex-wife twice through a window in Bangkok yesterday.
Police and medics rushed to the scene in Soi Phermsin 20, in the Sai Mai area of northern Bangkok, and managed to persuade Chikeru Morita to give himself up.
He had gone to the house upset that a Thai court had found in favour of his ex-wife in respect of property and land after their marriage had ended, reported the Daily News.
Seeing his ex-wife inside the house he smashed a window and shot her in the ribs and under the chin.
Witnesses said he had gone to the property but was not allowed access and so he climbed a fence, smashed a window and started firing.
Officers discovered many guns, including the .38 revolver, thought to be the attempted murder weapon, and have taken Morita into custody.
The unnamed woman is recovering in hospital from injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.
An investigation will now begin
