@dillinger - it's Filipino with an F, not a Ph! Even Jeff gets it right! lol I don't sing Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey - too hard! Only Britney Spears or Madonna!

@jeff - well, there are good singers and bad singers. I'm an average one. Good enough to sing at friends' weddings, but not professionally. Or else, I would be out on a gig now, and not posting at TD. Heh!

Btw, there are Filipino singers everywhere - in bars, clubs, cruise ships, etc. It's one of our main exports - people. Heh...

I used to like a Flipper Band that used to play in Bangkok Beat. The female singer had a really powerful voice.

I went in there last month and there was some gay boy band.

^that's more like it. It's Flipper, not Phlipper, right?

Yeah, Pinoy bands are everywhere - BKK, KL, Japan, the middle east, etc.

Look up "Your Love" by Jim Brickman/Michelle Wright on youtube, if interested. That's what I sang for my friend's wedding. Heh...

Lol. Yes, we still talk. She even gave me free food at the wedding!

It was a wedding song - it's supposed to be sappy. Hope you didn't flood the house with your tears. Heh...

Is that the singer, maybe in her middle/late 30's who looked a bit like Tina Turner?

BB seem to have a few bands on during the evening ... 2 or 3 hour shifts doing covers.

There also was a Philippine trio of singers who used to strut their stuff across the road at the Landmark ... did so for years ... are they still there?

^ At the Landmark they were called Manila Vanilla or something (not joking either). No idea if still there though.

Yep, saw the Flippers at the Landmark along with the old geezers buttin' in to "sing" My Way...

Heh...My date got drunk and "attacked" a couple of other Thai ladies for smiling at me...A real spitfire, she was...

Yeah, Tina Flipper was very good...

Again, that was some time ago...

I think Carabao is finished now, what with the deaths of some members, but that would be a fun band for the party, jimbobs...The rural Thais might appreciate that gesture...Dunno if Za likes them, though...Heh...

They actually had a gig with Santana...

Hey jimbob, what's the estimate of total guests so far? 6 TD members I believe plus your mates, your wifes family/friends. Still a long ways to 6 Jan but let me know what I can bring to the party.

I won't post a vid, but if anyone wants to hear how good (or bad) I sing, there's skype. Heh! If jimbob or any1 sponsors my air ticket, I can take care of my hotel cost for this grand party.

I hear ya, katie...Isn't Whatsapp the same as LINE?...Maybe we can "synchronize" our times 'cause I'd like to hear you sometime...

And I'd put in a good word for you for a cameo appearance at the Carabao Festival in Roi-et...

    Heh...

^I cannot belt. I cannot do Whitney or Mariah - I know my limits.

I can do the sappy song that Dillinger cried to, or You (carpenters) or Annie's Song (johndenver). I know my vocal range. Lol. After some vocalization (and drinks, lol) I can do Blue Bayou (linda ronstadt?) & Almost Over You (sheena easton). Heh!

I prefer using skype, as I dont have to give my phone no.

Bcos of my limited vocal range, I will accept if the offer is a free air ticket. I can handle my hotel. The carabao guys won't have to hire a band, coz I'll sing. Heh!

Gotta go - break time's over!

Many moons ago I was in Africa and popped down to the British Club for a pint after work. Upon entering this usually welcoming home of British sophistication, my ears were immediately assaulted by the shrill of a troop of Filipino cleaners, dressed in Father Christmas outfits, murdering the standard repertoire of Christmas carols.

Imagine a dying cat doing doing a duet with a constipated Mariah Carey and you'll be somewhere close to what my ears were forced to endure for the 42 seconds I was in the bar.

Filipinos should stick to what they're good at: making bad food and shagging.
