I was fortunate to have been befriended by some very hard men and I had the benefit of having a father who was fearless. I cannot understand why some men seek to be disrespectful and abusive to others when they sit behind a keyboard. Such creatures would have been sorted out years ago had they lived in my town and acted on the streets as they do here. I can only assume that the offenders on this forum are very short in experience of real life. They personal inadequacies drive them to "fight" with men they will never meet.

If they wish to have a dose of reality then they should visit me and they will learn respect very quickly. Either that or they will be sent home in a box.

I gave up violence and physical confrontation in the year 2000.

Best decision I ever made.

Since then I find that anyone who relies on such ridiculous abilities to be quite pathetic.

If you can't talk it through walk away. IMHO.

I used to think so too.

Having done a bit of time in the military and then paid my way through Uni running security at the Union plus various other stints doing the "heavy" bit, and working in so called heavy jobs it all became meaningless. I got beaten many times and I beat many times but it resolved nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Thinking, as I did for many years, that it was important to be able to handle myself was a fallacy and to be honest created more issues than it solved.

Whilst I enjoyed training in martial arts, boxing, Aikido and so on it really doesn't make any sense to employ such arts to resolve personal conflicts.

A lot of it was to do with having a very physically dominant father who always thought that a swift punch to the face of a child aged 9 resolved everything. This failed miserably as far as I was concerned, but it did set me on a track that thought that everything could be resolved by violence. It wasn't until 2000 that I realised what a load of bollocks this theory was.

Well, that was my decision, anyway and I'm better for having made it.

As long as I'm not drunk of course
