Thread: The Block List

I use the block list so that I do not have to see what some posters write. Obviously at times another poster will quote what a blocked guy has written and I realise that I just have to put up with that.

The blocked poster is shown as having made a post but there is a link which enables me to override my block and see what that poster has written. Out of curiosity I have clicked on some of them and found that blocked posters are actually responding to my posts. I think it would be good if posters were advised that they had been blocked by specific individuals so as to spare them the need to reply. I have absolutely no intention of responding to anything written by the members on my block list, indeed I "would not shit in their best hats".

Are people too dull to realise that they have been blocked ?

Blocking posters posts is exactly like blocking your ears from an idiot's questions....while most of the time you think....

"Can that poster even tie his own shoes?" or

"I wonder if he's on antidepressants and has been drinking?" or

"Surely that fuckwit isn't as stupid as me!" or

"It's just Jeff....while you might have to dig through a mountain of shit, there's ocassionally a mushroom for your soup"

But that's just me...why block them when their general fuckwittery can give you a laugh. People forget it's up to you how you choose to respond to a stimuli....

Oh please.

Needs more sex, village sweatboxes and the odd illegal tree child.

The block list works effectively and filters out the dross written by numerous multi-nicks. I find nothing amusing in their posts and find it strange that they should wish to respond to mine.

Out of curiosity I have clicked on some of them

But that defeats the object.

I only realised the link was there a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to see it. I agree it defeats the object so why is it there ?

I couldn't care less what another poster writes on a forum. The variety of views and personalities is what makes this places what it is. I wouldn't want to tone it down personally. Fireworks are fun, after all. Getting all offended and pissy about something written online is something I have never understood and will continue to mock and call out.

I agree but there comes a time when these people just have to be excluded. I can put up with all the banter under the sun but mindless abuse, especially in the form of repo comments, is something which bores me. I don't want anything to do with dopes.

I kinda agree, but mostly don't- and that's the beauty of the internet. If some chap I don't know wants to insult me then they can. Water of a duck's back and all that. I have a dark sense of humor and enjoy offensive puerile trash

BTW, I've no one on any such block list, as I'm not terribly offended nor sensitive towards such things.......see individuals as they are. Nothing to become uptight about - especially here. Consider the source.

I am never upset but, having been brought up in a community where mickey-taking and ribbing are taken to exceptional levels of sophistication and can be very amusing, I find mindless abuse annoying and so make efforts to avoid it.

I am not suggesting that those who figure on my block list should be denied the opportunity of making comments on the same thread as me, I am saying that they should not respond directly to my posts as I will never react to them.

Post your list up, Can. Let them all know instead of expecting them to be able to read your mind.

I use the block list simply to reduce the volume of posts. I am not overly sensitive, it's a question of eliminating posts made by dopes and which I have no wish to read.

Just out of interest, if someone is on your block list, can you see their repo? (colour and/or comment?)

Block list ==> if you block someone ...they can see your post and you do not see their posts?

I don't believe so.
Those that might be blocked are also blocked from sending any type of repo, which might be the principled and logical reason why some block others [yet can still read their posts, etc]......there are the usual serial red-repo obsessed that find the need as a way of life.

Yes, the point I am trying to make is that I don't want to see theirs and would prefer if they did not see mine. There is no point in them responding to mine as I will not read their response.

Anyway, the block list as it is now is very useful and I commend its use to you.
