Fair enough, good luck with the crytocurrency.
I'll just plod along like most of us though and stick to the good old Super route.
Not like that's rock solid by any route.

Fair enough, good luck with the crytocurrency.
I'll just plod along like most of us though and stick to the good old Super route.
Not like that's rock solid by any route.
And will become less solid as the realities of centralized bankster/government fraud dawn upon a world hungry for freedom and independence from the corporate war industry, big pharma elite.
Bitcoin gives each individual the power to be his/her bank and take back control of government from the bankster fraud-meisters
there is no take back control with cryptocurrency, that's a lure
it's like saying having an iPhone X give you super power and make you super smart with life
some people might actually believe it, but it's a fucking pipedream
I will give you that, it's an interesting topic to read, and I would recommend to anyone to learn more about it
but putting foolishly money into it and hoping to strike it reach, seems a bit amateurish and naive
reading the different stories about their principles and vision can be fun, but you have to admit that most of those visions are really unrealistic and some are completely childish
you should post your reading sources in this thread, I am sure a lot of people would be interested, much better than bragging about prices
I have posted this earlier - most will die and only the useful , well maintained and countinually developed will survive - anything without a robust funding model will die after the creators and early investors cash out
I have been posting links multiple times - but I am not here to convince anyone
I realise that flemm^^cum guzzling^^ish is your first language , so of course you do not notice that the price posting is not in a boasting manner , but rather informative - they also highlight the volitility of these ALT coins to enable people to understand their prices go down just as fast as they go up
I expect we will see more downward corrections to come as other countries follow chinas lead in trying to regulate exchanges that swap for fiat. though ultimately this is like withnall trying to catch farts in his hankerchief - the technlogy to enable decentralised exchanges is quite close to being deployed - I would expect by the end of the year a few chains will have this ability
The FBI can track and trace all bitcoins, it is an open source accounting system.
The agents who stole the Silk Road bitcoins found that out.
Unlike the out of control untraceable fiat currencies, every bitcoin is accounted for.
This is in part the intrinsic value, along with the p2p aspect of being your own banker, cutting out enormously expensive topheavy central banking cartels.
The entire bitcoin/blockchain concept has application far beyond the simple monetary accounting, but has big possibility for all sort of contractual relationships.
Thinking bitcoin/blockchain is nothing but "beenie babies" is the erroneous fantasy.
I realize that ya can't believe anything the fake news throws up but all and sundry seem to agree that crypto currency needs to be treated cautiously and one must be prepared to lose their investment.
Time will tell.
The trick will be to cash out before it goes tits up same as shares.
Ya got a crystal ball.
It's comparable to the early days of internet technology. There were a bunch of companies you could have invested in and if you did you would be very rich today. Companies like Google, Paypal, Facebook, Amazon. We only know these are good investments with hindsight. At that time you also could have invested in Yahoo, MySpace, Bebo, AOL, pets.com, or a multitude of other dot.coms and scams. This is what the crypto market is like today. There's a whole bunch of companies fighting for their place in the crypto market. The issue is even more complicated by the crypto-anarchists who have a belief that the banking world is the reason why they're poor and fat and can't get a supermodel wife.
As Balders said above ^^^^ it's a game-changing technology for the way many processes in the world are done but there's still a lot of shitstorms to endure before the Googles and Fakebooks of the cryptocurrency world emerge victorious. It's not as safe as your Super, but it's better odds than the lottery with similar returns.
Some people think it don't, but it be.
Indeed there is a lot of resposibilty which comes with being your own banker.
A lot of things could happen, but if you've been paying attention to the past 20 years of IT evolution, it is clear we are on the cusp of something much larger than the simple computer, email, facebook phenomena.
We can see already how the sophisticated handheld devices are easily accessible to nearly everyone. A big game changer when you think about it.
Crystal ball, yep I be seeing something way big happenning as people evolve from fiddling with facebook to making serious commerce with bitcoins on their android and iphones.
^ ^
Yer,
So in other words ya hope ya money is on the winning horse.
Same deal though innit, some will cash in and some will lose the lot.
Nothing new here.
^
Yes, it's the same game, and the same rules apply.
Your main investments should be into traditional Super-like funds before you even think about gamble-investing in crypto.
Your gamble-invest should be spare cash you have left over after all your other expenses/savings have been taken care of.
Never invest more than you can afford to lose.
There's lots of money to made day trading but like shares your best bet is to let it go long.
Simple, init?
^
Absolutely,
It's exactly the same as buying a house in Thailand, it may turn out to be fantastic or you may eat a shit sandwich when ya split up with ya bint.
All investments are good as long as ya can afford to right that money off.
If ya can't hack the game go the traditional route of Superannuation which may fall but will recover given time.
History tells us this where as cryptocurrency is a new game.
I'm watching but not investing.
Exactly, before 2009 and Satoshi Nakamoto, this was all inconceivable.
It is a bit spooky as well seeing how the origins of the open source code for bitcoin is the NSA military cryptography.
At least Bob Weir got it right!
Well I was drinkin' last night with a biker
And I showed him a picture of you
I said, "Pal get to know her, you'll like her
Seemed like the least I could do.
'Cause when he's chargin' his chopper
Up and down your carpeted halls
You will think I am dressed up quite proper
Never mind how I stumble and fall.
You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot
For taste of your elegant pride
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe
But at least I'm enjoying the ride, at least I'll enjoy the ride.
'Cause you're a sweet little softcore pretender
Somehow, babe, it got as hot as it gets
With her black leather and gold spike suspenders
And your chain, your black whip and pets.
Well we know you're the reincarnation
Of the infamous Catherine the Great
And we know how you love the ovation
And the scene that it seems to create.
You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot
For taste of your elegant pride
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe
But at least I'm enjoying the ride, at least I'll enjoy the ride.
You analyze me, tend to despise me
You laugh when I stumble and fall
There may come a say when I'll dance on your grave
Unable to dance I'll still crawl across it
Unable to dance I'll still crawl
Unable to dance I'll still crawl
Unable to dance I'll crawl.
You must really consider the circus
It just might be your kind of zoo
I can't think of a place that's more perfect
For a person as perfect as you.
And it's not like I'm leaving you lonely
'Cause I wouldn't know where to begin
Well I know you wake up here only
When the snakes come marching in.
You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot
For taste of your elegant pride
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe
But at least I'm enjoying the ride, at least I'll enjoy the ride.
Ride, ride, ride
Ride, ride, ride
Ride, ride, ride
At least I'll enjoy the ride.
At least I'll enjoy the ride.
At least I'll enjoy the ride.
Its done a big rally back up today. The gamble goes on.

Some are going to lose out big time.

There is an MSc being offered in digital currency, online of course.
They provide the introductory course on the MSc for free. Anyone interested can enroll here: https://digitalcurrency.unic.ac.cy/

Pirate Bay tests mining Monero XMR on visitors PCs to fund operations...

Can be avoided by using a NoScript browser plugin if it concerns you.
Monero has been getting a bit of press recently, bad press, which works out for an anon-coin. I've been mining it for a while. A few weeks ago the price doubled, good for me re my stash of coins doubling in value, not good for my mining rig now that everyone has stopped mining ETH for Monero. The coin is worth twice as much but now takes three times longer to mine. Hopefully ETH bubbles again and everyone jumps back on that ship.
IMF Chief tells Central Bankers to not Dismiss Bitcoin
LONDON —
Christine Lagarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund, has a message for the world's central bankers: Don't be Luddites.
Addressing a conference in London on Friday, Lagarde said virtual currencies, which are created and exchanged without the involvement of banks or government, could in time be embraced by countries with unstable currencies or weak domestic institutions.
"In many ways, virtual currencies might just give existing currencies and monetary policy a run for their money," she said. "The best response by central bankers is to continue running effective monetary policy, while being open to fresh ideas and new demands, as economies evolve."

Ripple has announced a conference 16 Oct.
There's quite an impressive line-up of speakers...
https://swell.ripple.com/agenda/
Ben Bernanke former chairman of the Fed
Sir Tim Berners-Lee co-inventor of the internet with Al Gore
Vitalik Buterin founder of Etherium
Dr Arak Sutivong chief strategy officer of Siam Commercial Bank
And plenty of other banking bigwigs.
Expect the price to start rising on hype just before the conference. Following that, depending on the announcements, it could either go through the roof or crash and burn.
personaly i cant get my head around the crypto currency thingy..... is it on line banking or share dealing or an investment.... i can see, understand that it can, will get a hold. much like the net itself.... i think it is inevitable in the long run.
bitcoin is for gambling your beer and whore money
Bitcoin has been fluctuating between 4000-4500 USD the last few days since september 30 - it is not sure if it is rising or falling now , just bumbling along between 4200 and 4300 - https://poloniex.com/exchange#usdt_btc
quite a few statements in recent weeks by high profile financial leaders both for and against bitcoin and other crypto currencies but most seem to lack more than just a superficial grasp of the actual usefulness of cryptos - butters in his position as a financial sucker has but a super facial grasp
bitcoin blockchain is a network that allows trustless transfers of value/money between 2 parties with an immutable settlement mechanism which used to be vastly cheaper than tradition methods using banks , though not cheaper than outright cash.
in the last 6-12 months the costs for transfers have risen above what was considered acceptable , though they have halved in the last few months - the august hardfork of the blockchain ( software upgrade ) was to go some way towards reversing this trend of expensive transfers and the next hardfork is in november - the reason it is called a fork is because some miners/nodes ( which validated blocks in the chain ) continue to use the old software for various reasons
