In the end I stayed opposite Thanmmarsat in another brand new building that was even better equipped and that was 4000 baht a month. i would happily have paid 8k per month for it but 4k was the going rate.
Its not always easy to know the standard of a place by the price anymore, especially with the new buildings flying up each day.
On the other hand I looked at some places for 2500 a month and I wouldn't have made soi dogs sleep in them

It's 3,500 with air con but sombody threw the a/c remote at the wall last night and it no longer works. There is no manual way to operate it.

Does anybody know where I could get a remote for a Mitsibishi air con fixed?

By the way, Klongmaster and anyone else who thinks they are better than me because they live in somewhere more expensive - I have not yet decided where I want to settle, only that I want to do work that is legal, so it's just a base.

Incedentally - I will be staying at the in laws for a week before moving to Boracay Beach where I have put a small deposit on a house (mansion) from an Danish friend who's throwing in a jeep and a secondhand jetski because I saved his infant nephew from choking.

    Go on, take the piss.

I didn't think I was better than you Scamp...but you do say some prattish things at times which gives the impression that your a stingy prick...like living out at MMT when you're only in Bkk for a short time...wow the apartment is cheap but damned inconvenient when you want to go anywhere...

oh and I wasn't far off when I said you were heading back to FL to sponge off someone else for a while...

Lift the cover of the AC, and look for a small push button switch.

    They all have them.

Same switch turns them On / Off.

Where is this place? As a Pattaya resident I'm guessing near Chaeng Wattana road??

I might be interested in completing your lease for you, as I have some business in Bangkok over the next 6 months, 2-3 days a week.

Could you PM me your phone number and some more details, I would like to look at the place before deciding.

He was playing with some Harry Potter Lego while my Dutch mate was in the kitchen on the phone to the bass player from Kraftwerk, anyway - he tried to eat the Lego and I shouted out "Hey you, that's not on!", just in time before he swallowed it.

The jetski needs a new carbaretta* but I can't afford one until I get my deposit back. It is a white and yellow jetski and has the words Sea Doo written on the side of it.

Anyway, he's from a European country that starts with the letter 'D' which is also the first letter of the surname of my English aquaintance who thinks he can get me back my deposit by making a phone call to one of his goverment chums.

Yeah yeah, next he'll be telling me that some expats are not alcoholics and want to socialise in a way that will add value to their lives.
