Ad hominem and obfuscation is your default setting when you know you're wrong isn't it.

    Moriori myth corrected

Generations of New Zealanders have grown up believing Moriori were an inferior, pre-Maori race driven from New Zealand to seek refuge in the Chatham Islands.

In his 1989 book Moriori: A people rediscovered, the late historian Michael King said that four generations of New Zealanders were taught to malign Moriori.

"Nobody in New Zealand – and few elsewhere in the world – has been subjected to group slander as intense and as damaging as that heaped upon the Moriori," he wrote.

The mythological history was perpetuated by the School Journal, a magazine-style series used in all New Zealand primary schools.

King said the journal's account was wrong, but for 60-odd years it was lodged in the national imagination.

That wrong was righted last week when Education Minister Anne Tolley travelled to the Chatham Islands to present a new series of School Journals that give a true account of the Moriori.

Marae elders, parents, students and officials gathered at Kopinga Marae for the presentation of the journals. In the centre of the room is a wooden pou or pole inscribed with the names of 1561 Maoriori living on the islands in 1835.

Tolley called the textbooks a "gift of peace" between the Ministry of Education and the Chatham Islanders.

The journals feature stories, pictures and illustrations about Moriori and carry a preface explaining who Moriori are and why the journals are dedicated to them.

Hokotehi Moriori Trust general manager Maui Solomon said the presentation was "a dream come true". In 1986, Solomon, the grandson of Moriori leader Tommy Solomon, told officials until Moriori was taught in schools the untruths and misconceptions would continue.

In the 2006 New Zealand census, 945 people said they were of Moriori descent.

If that's the way you look at things no wonder you're so stupid, ignorant, and ill-informed all the time about so many things.

Not directly relevant to the Moriori historical account discussion but I just realised if you say Ant with a Kiwi accent you get ENT...

When I left school, I worked with a bloke (Old fella) that new Tommy Solomon. He was the last full blooded Moriori.

They were hanging out for it.

One story from the Hokianga was that when a large British ship arrived there and dropped anchor near Omapere women fro miles around literally ran for miles to get there when they heard.

The story goes that their menfolk couldn't hold them back, they were so horny for a bit of white cock, and the trade good.....

A lot of NZ natives have red hair and blue to green eyes, Ants for instance.

Apparently, many of the European men liked it up the arse. This would explain why you troll ladyboy adverts. (Your admission, BTW)

Now pop off to the ladyboy forums, there's a good girl.

In 100 years that dildo incident will be politely erased from the history books (much like the Moriori).. some Maori refuse to acknowledge they ever existed...

    (Moriori... not dildos)

Folk will doubtless note the priggish ANTipodean has signally failed to acknowledge he was talking bollox. No surprise there then.

And what, exactly, was I talking bollocks about, sausageboy?

What I said was factually accurate for anyone who cares to check it: the Moriori as pre-Maori settlers of NZ is a myth. They are in fact a hapu/sub-tribe of Maori.

A persistent myth granted, it was first discredited as early as the 1930's, but a myth all the same.

ANT knows his shit, he's way more knowledgeable about NZ history than me (that's not saying much, but you know what I mean)...

I'm open minded on this topic... I'm still reading/researching, honestly can't find anything conclusive.. it's funny, NZ history although very recent, is very confusing and vague...

    *bit like me really...

    Got what wrong, sausageboy?

Why so reticent to point it out. Ah I see, because you're just talking bollocks. No change there then.

I think I've seen where sausageboy has gone and got himself all confused.

He apparently thinks that ENT's cut 'n pasted article refutes what I've said but if you read it properly (and without jaundiced sausage-eyes) it actually completely supports it. The historian quoted, Micheal King, basically spent a lifetime trying to disavow people of the myth.

Seems that genticles rushed in and doesn't have the balls to admit his error. No change there either.

All that Maori shagging whitey threw up some unfortunate genetic results, as we can see on this forum even, and contributed greatly to chips on the shoulders of some of the resulting mongrels, well just the one on here- Rotorua Ant the ginger workaholic

Poor old Ant, the perpetual boy trapped in a man's body squirming his petty minded, priggish way through life desperate to conceal his failings at all cost.

    Quite sad really.

Didn't actually bother mate. Disinterested spectator at best.

Probably would've gone for the new one if I had been forced to choose.
