Thread: Are Bar-Owners Pimps???

Can't see the need for active solicitation or active procurement to enjoy pimp status; providing the premises and the conditions and a tacit understanding for others to solicit ought to be enough.

Sure a client may wish to barfine a girl for her company or to clean or cook for him, or to give her a night off, and sure some punters go to bars purely for the drink or music or ambience and with little to zero interest in its girls, but these are exceptions...a primary if not the primary function of a bar is as a venue for punters to drink and enjoy the muzak and have a nice time so they'll come back tomorrow, at least part of the attraction being the availability of girls, whereupon if the chemistry is right they pay the owner for a girl's time so that they can negotiate separately with the girl for sex...which makes the girl a prostitute and the owner a pimp.

Let bar owners and their champions play with words for all they're worth, but a nod nod wink wink thanks for the barfine which pays for her company and compensates me for the short-time loss of her presence at the bar...doesn't smell right to me.

Degrees of pimpness might well cover things nicely here.

An owner of a brothel would be actively soliciting sexual services to his customers from his brothel so could be considered 100% pimp.

A bar owner in the OP that doesnt activley solicite sex but makes a cut of the barfine could be considered 50% pimp.

A boyfriend who lets his girlfriend sleep with the odd mate as long as they shout him a beer or two could be considered 25% pimp.

Someone whos married to an inactive/retired prostitute could be considered 'passive pimp'.

A farmer who lets mates shag his cattle could be considered 'perverted pimp'.
