I'm sure many Pomgolians cashed in and bought condos back then Pat.

Same as the Septics when their Dollar was through the roof.

Us Aussies have never had to worry about that as our exchange rate was always shit.

Lowest for me was 1988 at 18 Baht to 1 AUD and the best was last year at 30 Baht to 1 AUD.

The Poms and Seppos who bought Condos back then have minted it.

The current volatility affecting Sterling reflects the doubt over the EU referendum outcome which the markets had previously understood would be in favour of remaining.

Collective insanity among the stupid and deluded has since cast doubt and there may well be a vote to leave. In that case Sterling will almost certainly fall by a further 30%.

If the UK remains then I see 55 by August.

Current uncertainty is also due to fact that the Government need to fund the failed disability cuts from elsewhere, less than a week after the budget.

Pound baht rate will be back to 50+ by Monday.

Pound's $16 Billion of Option Trades Envisage Drop to 1980s Lows

As Britain ponders its future in the European Union, investors are betting an amount almost the size of Iceland’s economy on the pound falling to levels last seen in the 1980s.

    Pounds to US Dollars?

As for Pounds to Euros, it's already lower than the equivalent Pounds to D-Marks in the 80s.

The pound was briefly close to one to one against the US$ back in the 80's.

I went to Germany a year after £1 was worth almost 2 Euros.

When I went it was a lousy 1.18 euros to £1

Sterling will be up and down like a whore's drawers between now and the EU referendum. Currency speculators love uncertainty, especially when there is no safe haven.

    1.00 GBP = 50.1106 THB
XE: (GBP/THB) British Pound to Thai Baht Rate

There are variable rates for cash, travellers cheques and bank transfers. XE Currency uses mid market rates and generally reflects the rate I get when transferring funds by bank.
