Yes, once when I was very young. But my mum caught me and remonstrated that it wasn't fit for human consumption and should only be fed to the dogs. Given the taste, I had to agree.

Dog roll I guess it's called? Looks a bit like a big salami (hence my curious nibbles of it). Thought that 'dog meat' was the colloquial for it, must be a Kiwi thing I guess.

Pedigree food has many problems.

What do you suggest? Bear in mind I only feed them randomly & not every day (not my own dogs, I don't have any, I'm talking about ones that just wander up now & again)

Pedigree has had a bad rep as it's had to pull products that cause organ malfunctions (also, after one recall, my Thai shopowner neighbour repackaged the stuff in clear baggies to sell; obviously not Pedigree's fault). The Tesco noname stuff is OK and also cheaper. But, if you're feeding the local charmers, don't worry. At least it's food!

Yeah, I think the 'problem' will only arise if one feeds them constantly on the same stuff.

Ours get the dried pellets from Tesco and freshly boiled beef, pork or fish for main meals.
Those little ones don't eat rice or grain unlike the other ones we had.

It wasn't really their fault and it wasn't only Pedigree. It was because of some ingredient that was imported from China.

Most of the leading dog food manufacturers had to recall products.
