Hospitals in the Philippines offer plastic surgeries to criminals to avoid arrest

Several secret hospitals in the Philippines have made it a business to help criminals escape arrest by offering various plastic surgeries, according to Philippine authorities.

This includes wanted people and people who make a living by scamming others, who have been able to be transformed into "a completely new person" with the help of hair transplants, dental implants and skin whitening products, writes the BBC.

Police raided the first of its kind in the capital Manila back in May, while two of the illegal hospitals may be shut down in "the coming weeks", it says.

"They look like regular clinics on the outside, but as soon as you step in, you'll be shocked by the technology they have," said Winston John Casio, spokesperson for the country's Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

I heard of a Brit who overstayed his visa by several years.

Got grassed up and got a knock at the door one morning .

Was given 5 minutes to pack a bag then escorted to the airport and put on the first available seat back to the UK.

He was officially deported for overstaying his tourist visa.

He was put on BA first class with his surf board and had his passport confiscated at Heathrow and was told he had to.pay for the ticket to get his passport back.

He returned to Oz a week later on a different passport.

I can't see this story being replicated nowadays.

This all happened over 25 years ago and no it wasn't me.

Nah they'd leave you in immigration jail before you could afford to buy a ticket.

DDR tried to deport me back to Denmark where my ticket to Dresden had originated as I had "nipped in and out of West Berlin" in transit. My broken German and a few DMs ensure di was able to exit to Prague on condition bought a ticket all the way to the frontier, ths was many moons ago before computerised passports , scanners in the era of paper docs and no computers widespread.

Thanks to bloody .9/11 we all have endles ID checks and Chinese style monitoring of DNA from cradle to grave seems inevitable.

Depsite 40m a year at immigration and rumbles about taxing global income rural Thailand is far less regulated than the UK or France in my recent experience.

LOL, I was just speaking to my sister in law tonight. About 10 years ago, she got grassed up, Thai immi showed up at the school she was working at and she spent a month in the Suan Plu immigration hostel. As I recall, she went up before a judge, was fined and ordered to be deported. As she didn't have the cash to pay either, her loving family got to pay not only for the fine and flight but boarding costs for the hostel. I think she's still blackballed.
