Thread: The two minute warning

Today, 5.58pm.

"Neverna, my aunt has invited you to the aroi maak restaurant for a meal."
'Sounds good. When?'
"Six o'clock."
'Today?'
"Yes."
'It's two minutes to six now.'
"Yes. Are you going?"



It's not the first time I've had this 2 minute warning - and sometimes I don't get the luxury of the full 2 minutes. Am I the only one?

Some don't respond well to spontaneous and impromptu stimulation - instead relying on the planned and linear time measurement.

Only life cycles.

As Necron says if it's the same people eating the same shit at the same shit restaurant, there's nothing spontaneous or impromptu about it apart from the rudeness of the short notice.

I forgot, someone, usually the cause of this clusterfuck will invariably be 45min to 1 hour late (due to lack of notice) and you will all have to stand outside breathing diesel fumes until they get there.

Wish i had a 2 minute warning the other when i had a bad stomach.

The restaurant in question is usually pretty good and I enjoy going there. There's also ample parking. However, I prefer more than 2 minutes notice to go somewhere, especially when a shower and a change of clothes is required, or when it involves eating, and this evening I had other plans, plans that I might have changed if I had been given more notice.

Gert needs about 2 hrs prep time before we go out gives me 1 hr 57 minutes on my own in the bar to knock a few beers back,before she starts counting how much i have had to drink.

Today I have been given the luxury of 105 minutes - for something that has obviously been planned for quite some time - a group retirement party. Thanks but no thanks.
