My MiL is about 56 and never spent one day in a classroom in all her days. My missus taught her to sign her name on a document. That's it.

Example of my MiL's intelligence level. Our youngest daughter has had a repeating ear infectiom for 5 years. To help us the MiL got together with a few other women from the village to find a solution to the ear infection. They decided that the only way forward was to find a pregnant woman and have her spit into the infected ear. I'll leave it to you as to what I said to my missus. You won't be far wrong.

Yea, its like that I suppose in all Thai villages. I was at my BIL's MIL's house visiting one afternoon since the nephew was being babysat there. I hit the floor with my palm to make a drumming noise to attract the babies attention. all the Thai's faces went grim...you cannot pound on the floor! Why? You wake up the ghosts. Days passed and I brought a ball for the kid to play with. Seems bouncing the ball is fair game no ghosts attracted by that sound.

Scary the stuff they conjure up. I abide it, but its pretty foolish imo. Why not take the kid to the doctor I say? No, bad people or bad day or bla bla bla. simple to figure out, no money.
