Dude- I seriously hope you are joking. Methylated spirits is alcohol sure- but it is mixed with 10% methanol - and that stuff is damn toxic. Even a small intake can make you go blind, and a larger intake will kill you dead.
Rubbing alcohol is even worse - it is normally Isoproply alcohol, and again very toxic.

^WTF?
^^ Yeah, we called it Perry in Somerset as well.
I think Perry is just cider made from pears instead of apples?
Weirdos :)
^ Not really, cider is made from fermented apples and Perry fermented pears.
Look it up and remember for the next pub quiz.
^ Can you remember the taste?
^ I remember, I only drank it two nights ago!
It tasted like cider, but pear flavour instead of apple flavour.
Bit sweet to be honest.
Re rubbing alcohol.

Yes. That is why it was written in a jocular tone. Not advice or recommendation. Just a report of what happened to men undergoing extreme hardship (Shackleton and his men marooned) and me with my inquiring mind.
Done it once with lemonade and that was it. I come from a country where a guy who drank aftershave after an international rugby match was hailed as hero. And still is.

Moose Cider - I though it was a local brew as I can buy for 49 baht/bottle but saw them advertising on one of the Formula 1 cars at the Russian GP just now - confused :(

Today I picked up a box of wine for the weekend and thought I'd have a mid-week glass to test it out.
My World... not too bad at all - no neck shake whatsoever - and cheap for Norway at 349 NOK (about 33 quid for 3 litres)

Norway must be one of the most heavily regulated countries in Europe for getting a drink. I had to leave work early just to get a box of wine. I'm working in a largish town (about the size of Weston Super Mare I reckon) and there is only one shop in the entire place where you can buy wine or spirits. Supermarkets cannot stock anything stronger than beer or cider. So I had to go to the government run Vinmopolet (yes, the wine monopoly) to get some wine, and it shuts at 6pm weekdays (3pm on Saturdays). If you want a bottle of wine on a Sunday, then you're buggered.

Coffee, Whiskey but Vodka!!!!
When it comes to simple and satisfying cocktails, few can beat the black Russian. This popular lowball is enjoyed worldwide and the combination of vodka with a coffee liqueur creates a pleasant and irresistible drink.
The black Russian is so well-known that it should be among the first cocktails that every aspiring bartender commits to memory. While you're at it, be sure to learn how to make the white Russian as well.
There is not much to the black Russian recipe and it's on of those incredibly easy drinks that anyone can mix up. You will simply pour your favorite vodka and coffee liqueur (typically Kahlua) over ice, stir, and serve. Despite its simplicity, there are a few things that you can do to enhance the black Russian.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces vodka
- 3/4 ounce coffee liqueur
- Optional: maraschino cherries
Steps to Make It

I've been staying in this hotel for over four weeks now and I've had enough, and the alcohol consumption is gradually rising - still another two weeks to go to finish up this project as well...
Tonight, to celebrate the weekend I went for a solitary wander around a few bars straight from work. I visited one bar I last drank in over twenty years ago, back when I regularly worked in Norway in the 1990s.
Lo and behold I saw this picture on the wall. My mate's wife took it around 1995 I would think, and it's been hanging on the wall ever since. It brought back a lot of memories and made me realise how much I've aged...

After that, business as usual in the hotel room. Work tomorrow...
Went for a Chilean this weekend - under 40 quid and not bad at all!
