I like to think wine in a box was where getting bladdered came from.
oh I’m sorry.
here’s a another.

Are you only drinking in the hotel bar, Willy?
Maybe it's a good idea, actually. Too many dickheads in London and too much knife crime.
More a case of not keeping up with the photos. This bar was good too.

A lunch time Guinness in a different hotel bar.

London Pride at the Hereford Arms again.
Attachment 121512
Sorry Hal.
Did you like the London Pride, Willy?
Don't worry, mate.
I'm on it now anyway so might post up some of my pints from the UK over Christmas/NY (if TD allows)!
Great fucking draught Guinness in the UK.
In fact, here's one from when we were drowning our sorrows after the United v Newcastle game in this proper boozer: Grey Horse | Hydes - Exceptional Hospitality

Fortunately, there is a kebab shop next door and, after a shite game, the closing times are "fluid." :)
Had a conference last week in London and was keeping Chitty entertained with my photos of free food and beer for the three days.
He liked them.
:)
Went out on the last day with my missus and this was my last ale on home soil for the next few months, but the Thai moo grob we had in there was actually decent, which makes a bloody change (even for London).

Is there a food that travels as poorly as decent Thai does? This place served up good stuff, but it's such a rarity and I loathe paying 15 quid for something I can get much better for 80 baht on the streets of Bangkok.
Ok, a few more.
Went down to Borough Market last Saturday for a couple of pork pies and some cheddar.

Spent 16 quid on 300 grammes of Red Leicester (couldn't even snort it :)) and 17 quid on a pork pie and a pork pie with stilton.
Retired to the pub to consider the next steps.

:)
Never did get the cheddar.
:smileylaughing:
The pool table belongs to my Landlord/housemate's work mate. He's practically a pro player and is off to the European Championships in Malta next month.
He comes round a few times a week to practice and of over 100 games we've played I've only beat him 6 times.
On Saturday, I showed him my technique to pot a ball 9/10 times on the break and he has fully adopted my method.
And that's what I'm going to tell everyone when he wins in Malta!
Have you considered applying a 2nd passport?
No, it's her daughter!
It's my second passport that needs renewing. To be honest, two ain't enough but that's all I can get.
Still, now that they demand offshore medicals every six months I am covered for regular Bangkok visits.
I wouldn't say that I've stuck rigidly to 'Dry January' but I have pretty much stopped drinking altogether. I just have the one beer or cider of an evening, with maybe just one or two nips of Ya Dong.
Damp January.

I don't know about February, but I forecast just a 'Moist March'.
Strangely enough Nev, this Ya Dong isn't very strong at all, I reckon no stronger than maybe a fortified wine... 16 or 18% maybe? It's certainly nothing like a proper whisky but just tastes so bad it feels stronger.
Anyway, time for a refill.

What another measured drinker!! I thought I was the only one to use a specimen container!

Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder.
Refreshingly smooth..

^A lively looking lager, Joe
The aspartame in my pepsi cans seems to break down prematurely during warm weather so I have taken to carrying a box of sweeteners to pep up my post-run pepsi a bit

Nice Mod vespas on your towel Looper!
Nice Looper, you are very lucky with your beach. One of the nicest evenings I ever spent was just riding along a beach path at sunset.

75 baht Mendy Wednesday special
^try before you spend 1.99 on a pint
That is a very accommodating arrangement
Most pubs in Aussie now don't put any prices on the pumps or even on a board. There is no tasting option before you discover at the swipe checkout that your schooner (3/4 pint) is $14 before finding out if it tastes any good
^ I remember Aussies having a Toss The Boss night. Every Sunday you order then flip a coin and if you win it's free. Though I did live in Kings Cross. Most people's bosses were probably pimps or heroin dealers.
I had an abbot yesterday, it was quite ok.

^ Butcombe is a lovely pint. A perfect strength for me if I'm out for a few.
Butcombe brewery is now in the village I grew up in, maybe half a mile away from my mum's house across the fields, as the crow flies.
The building on the left is on the site of farmer Cleeve's old hay barn. I used to go ratting in that hay barn with my ferrets back in the day. I also entertained there a couple of times.
If you know what I mean...

Dirty barsteward
So now we know how Buttcum got its name.
After my interview yesterday (got the job) I stopped in by The Justice Mill, which is a Lloyd’s No.1 bar, which is Weatherspoons with music, not in an old bank, but the bogs are still 4 light years away.
It was just a warm up stop, but I bagged myself a pint of Stowford Press for £1.99 which is 83.4 baht. I sell pint cans in my bar for 120 baht which is £2.86. Shh, don’t tell anyone…

Och aye the noo, Jimmy!
When did Hooch make a come back?! I bloody loved that stuff!
3 quid a Carling is decent even if you have to deal with a Lloyds.
I thought the same when I clicked the Hooch.
A Smirnoff Ice turbo shandy is up there too.
Only £4.18 and you get a half pint of lager first to make space for the SmIce.
Both bargains compared to Aussie-land.
And nice detailed price list in Spoons. They should extend their franchise down under.
Beach run bevvies this arvo.

I am making steady inroads in mopping up the red wine which had been piling up from miscellaneous gifts when I had not been drinking red for a while. Good work.
^^
Very nice Willy the Japanese whiskys are some of the best in the world.
