Socal will be along shortly to tell everyone he has seen and ignored this already. He is a great motorcyclist and doesn't need any advice from anyone.

Great, but you don't need any time to learn to drive as well as a local

    Great Video!

That's stuff we deal with all the time when driving in Bangkok or CM and other big cities. I've taken to retracting my wing mirrors on the truck when driving along sections of Kanchanapisek, Nam Wong Wan & Ratanatibit thru northern Bangkok as the motocyes are sooner or later gonna rip one or both of them off.

    Funny you say that.

I was just coming back from lunch on my bike, empty left lane and an idiot in his fancy done up new Civic (big black alloys, black windows) comes from the left pulling into my lane, no indicator. I do what I always do, don't give way, keep on driving at the speed I was. He's right next to me now pushing in, some other bikes and stuff coming up on the left, I still don't allow him in. Result: My mirror and handle bar end scraches (hopefully ) about 12 inches from his rear passenger window to nearly the back.

Perhaps time to get tiny little spikes or needles put into the end of handlebar weights.

Yeah, like those spikes Charlton Heston had on his chariot in Ben Hur!

Talking about giving way, I'm the world's best at letting any motocyce to get around/past/thru me as all I need as a Farang Driver is to get involved in an accident - touch wood...

I rode my first motorcycle at the age of eight, admittedly straight through a hedge and have been riding them ever since at age now of fifty two. I can honestly say that I feel more relaxed and safe riding a bike here than I ever did back in the UK. Here drivers of cars and pick ups are aware of the many bikes surrounding them. Back in the UK they just don't see you. They will pull up at a junction, stop, look right at you riding towards them with your lights on and simply pull out in front of you. if you ever question them about this they simply say as said they didn't see you.
Years ago when they actually had road safety ads on the TV they had a campaign just for this.
    THINK ONCE
    THINK TWICE
    THINK BIKE
today sadly the car driver is once again oblivious to the presence of the biker.
Give me Thailand over UK any day and BKK over London the same.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

yeah, because the laws of physics are always going to guarantee that you are going to come out the winner in any situation like that.

When you're resting up in your hospital bed, at least you will have the warm glow of "I was in the right." to take your mind off the pain.

The missus doesn't stand for any shite from bikes.

Eire, if you see a grey Honda City steaming around the traffic (usually between Jarunsanitwong and BangMot), I suggest you give way (she fukin hates bikes, trucks, buses, etc, on her roads, in her lane!)...

I'd like to get a bike in Thailand, but: 1) I'm worried about dying; 2) a coworker here in Oman (which is equally dangerous as LoS) was recently knocked off and nearly killed...

    Take care, Satonic and others.
    Cycling should be banned!!!
