Tell me about it ... I've got my 15 year old step-daughter on a very short leash but still worry about things or people who could be a negative influence on her. Thankfully there are quite a few Filipino kids at Bremerton High School and they pretty much pulled her into their clique. One year down with a 3.55 GPA and this year she will be taking AP Biology and Engineering II. Kid couldn't even speak English just 9 years ago.
Keep up the good work AO!
Excellent! Many congrats!!!Originally Posted by aging one

Aren't the liberals in your area providing bi-lingual studies programs S.K.? Most of your daughter's teachers are Fillipino right? ESL, who needs it in America?Originally Posted by Storekeeper
BTW Congrats on your daughter's success and future as an engineer.
Going back to Ilkeston to see Mr NR tonight after three days away. Then next weekend Dusseldorf with him. Yay!
Wot? When are you going on honeymoon?
^November, as planned with the original date of the wedding. We got married on Wednesday, back to work for both of us on Friday, and as my work is away ( & there are reasons I don't want to change that yet), that means 3 days apart every week.
I imagine good fun is had by all on the first of those 4 days each week.
(well, the first one more so anyway)

There aren't any Filipino teachers at her school dude. I have no idea what gave you that idea. I don't think there are even any black teachers at BHS. And no my man ... There isn't a bilingual studies program at BHS.
And she hasn't been in ESL since the 3rd grade. Her ESL teachers were back when she was at the school on the Navy base in Yokosuka, Japan ... All Caucasian. Followed by a couple of years at the bilingual school in Pattaya. I was her 5th grade English teacher by the way ...
Not sure if there is an ESL program at her school.
She might become an engineer but it will more likely be a computer engineer. She's also taking web design and computer programming.

Unlike most here, my shite does stink.
At least I'm not deluded to consider it doesn't.
I'd prefer that it is some what foul.
It's real.
I'm thinking about getting my Internet connected tomorrow and painting my wall red.
Oh yes,
Might knock one out before I head out in the morning, not sure though, see if I got the horn on.
^You should think about getting a life, not trying to fake you're manhood. We don't care Terry, you and Socal can be bum-chums and the world will still spin round and round.
I'm in Hong Kong and just finalised my will. A bit complicated as I work overseas and live in Thailand plus I am divorced with a 12 year old boy to look after but happy I have it all sown up in case something terrible happens like it nearly did 2 years ago.
Need a separate Thai will but really bugger all assets there, just vehicles and personal effects which the ex can sort out.
Get a will if you don't have one!
Fahn Cahn's
good advice bung, i often think i should get a will squared away in case anything nasty occurs, The wife and kids are beneficiaries of my super when i conk out but ive made no provision for assetts in australia , she would get it all in the end but i fear it would be expensive and time consuming for her my relatives in oz would help her of course , is there a way to go about getting a will done without having to go back to oz ? perhaps give my bro power of attorney or something like that

Mate, easier than that, get a mate to buy ($6.95) a do it yourself will pack from Australia Post Store and send it to you. Fill it in and job done.
Don't assume relatives will help, some people go crazy when relatives pass on and there's money or stuff to be had/divided.
Mr NR flies out to Dusseldorf today & I follow him on Sunday. Hotel looks nice & due to a mix up at work, tonight is the only shift I'm working for 2 weeks. Yay!
Enjoy.
Don't forget to login to TD everyday and update us all!
tat makes sense willy, I didn't know you could do that, I'm guessing once the forms filled in I could probablyget it notorizes at the aussie embassy here and it would be a legal document. in ozzie there's only my mum and bro who would go the distance to get shit sorted' bit morbid to think of but you never know, the fickle finger of fate and all that
^ yep 2 kids and a missus and i am pushing 50, so would be leaving a damn handsome corpse behind but lots of headaches for her indoors , she would be ok in Laos, but what worries me is she probably wouldnt know how to go about selling the assets in australia or closing bank accounts there etc, I wouldnt want to burden my old mum with all that shit so i think it sounds like i need to make it as simple as possible and all legal , i can probably get someone onsite to pick me up one of these will kits on there next R&R to oz i have no plans to go there for a while , so i can check it out , as an after thought i plan on living 1 month longer than expected as a result of my efforts during DRY July where i ate salads for a month and didnt drink
Cheers
^None of my business but a general question: Would your wife get any of you're retirement pension due from Oz? Asking as most Aussies seem to have difficulty collecting as long term ex-pats?
Is she Lao or Thai? Law different between the two countries as regards inheritance?
