So, was looking through one of the "Cracked" photoplasty competitions (great site by the way, well worth a look over).
The theme was "Shocking Facts That Will Change How You Picture History".
Just got to number 29 (starting down from 33), and got this one:

and yup - it does seem legit.
How awesome is that? The last verified Civil War veteran, Albert Woolson, died in 1956 at age 109. The last widow, Gertrude Janeway, died in 2003 at age 93 (from article), and the two drawing pensions are kids of people who fought in the American civil war. They are obviously quite elderly.
So, civil war to today, near enough two life times.
Is progress awesome or what?
