Bought a helicopter for one of my 3 boys when he was eight. He managed fine until he crashed it into his six year old brothers head.
The six year old wanted more but mother knew best and confiscated it.

You already know that pants are even worse than a brightly coloured jumper with animal motifs on it. In fact, I suspect you have already bought the helicopter and had a test flight?

Chopper - even though it will be a pile of rubble in one day and the missus will rag on you for months.

At 6 years old though, shouldn't he be getting new speedos rather than saggy y fronts?
I didn't realise they were only 6 years old. I had estimated them as being of early 80's vintage. They have obviously had a hard life!

If you go with the helicopter Koojo and live in a high rise then get him the livestock sling accessory too so he can take the hamster out for recreational flights over the edge of the 28th floor balcony.

the problem with the helicopters is they get crashed so quickly and the main rotors break and then they are useful for fcuk all

being in china you should easily be able to get him a quad rotor semi autonomous drone he can control from his/your phone -

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

    Have we met?
I got him a smaller model Chopper than the one I originally intended so to minimise damage to the environment.
(The original one was a big quite powerful thing)
So it looks like he'll have to go without pants this year.
Nah, just kidding, the missus has them (2 pair) neatly wrapped and under the tree.
I can't wait to see his face when he opens mums present.
Last birthday Mum got him a jade pendant, which was quickly forgotten when he opened my present, a game console.
So because he has to go to school on the 25th we're pretending tomorrow is Christmas.
A Remote controlled Chopper from Santa, a New engine and some more track and bits and pieces for his train set from dad,
and 2 pair of pants from mum.
The pants, by the way, more expensive that santas and mine put together.

Helicopter for sure. But when and if he crashes it, don't tell him "it serves yourself right" as my parents did when I flew my airplane through a hotel window next door while in Blackpool and busted it up. Only had it for 10 mins. Fortunately the window was open at the time, but the paying guests received pleasant surprise!

The chopper has to be the winner, and spend lots of time with him. Try to let him have a play with his Christmas present !
Some of my best memories of my father are the times at Christmas when he had time to spend with us kids.

The RC Helos are not an easy task to fly. Even if the kid has skill at video games etc, it isn't the same a flying an RC Helo.... and BTW, not all RC Helos are the same. The batteries also do not last long on the RC flying helos and as another has mentioned the helo will in all certainty crash multiple times and need replacement parts such as rotor blades and tail stabilizer. Extra battery is a must as well. Anything less than $100 US (3500 baht or so) helo would probably not be worth it and then the spare parts kit is another expense. As much fun as what it sounds like and would be after many hours of test flying and expensive parts replacement, the boy or yourself might be able to manage the RC helo flying at a basic level. I'd suggest the pants in this case as the RC helo for such a young boy is really not practical.

While in the States making this holiday visit, I went to a RC airplane and helo shop to get the whole lowdown on the craft. Basic non-toy type RC helos were $100 US and up... They are not easy to fly. "BLADE" RC helos are a great brand to start out with. Do the "BLADE RC Helo" google search to get the background knowledge that is needed.

Got him a cheap one for just that reason.

These helicopters used to be flimsy, but I once looked at some in a shop and mentioned this. The guy said "well, the ones we now get have changed a bit". He bent the blades quite a bit, and threw it at the wall. He then picked it up and flew it !

You can throw pants at the wall and they will never fly afterward.

    More points for helicopters!

Anyone who thinks that pants are a suitable Christmas present for kids either doesn't understand Christmas or doesn't understand kids. Or possibly both.

    Merry Crimble everyone.

    Ah, helicopter pants, good idea.

Anyway, the first thing was the chopper as it was a Santa delivery, it actually flies quite well and he had it going for a while there untill the initial charge wore out then it wouldn't charge agai.
it cahrges off the remote using a USB and the remote uses 4 AA batteries.
    Very strange.
I made up some bullshit about sending Santa a letter and see if we can get it replaced.

The pants were funny. The first under the tree gift he opened.
There was a kind of moment of 'WTF' moment when he realized what they were, looked at mum for a moment then back at the pants with an expression that said 'Um, mum, there seems to have been a mistake, someones replaced my present with pants'.

I had a very small car like this a few years ago. I think the idea is that they save on weight by having a tiny but high performance rechargeable battery in the helicopter. In fact it's quite possibly a batacitor.....halfway between a battery and capacitor, and capable of giving out most of it's power in a shortish surge.

Check all your connections, and leave it on charge for a while longer. Or change the batteries, if you are not 100% sure they have all their charge. This may be the case if they came with the helicopter, rather than being batteries you bought separately.

Ok, replaced and I think you're right. It charges and discharges quickly but it's easy to fly and has had a few crashes and seems to be standing up to it. It also came with spare rotor blades so thats handy.
it has so many control on the remote I don't know what half of them are for. There A/B/C which I have no idea, but A seems to be normal and if I move it from C to B it takes of by itself.
Then there's the 'demo' button, which I assumed i would press and the thing would take of and do a couple of touch and goes to give me the idea but nothing.
There's 'slow' and 'fast' which are good. Basically more or less sensitivity to the controls. (Just for the record, less is more).
