As a junior journalist pictures paints a 1,000 words Moog and this thread is a warning to others to not make the same mistake I did.

I fucked Up.............paid the fee too the experts to save my arm and that is the end of the story.

You may add whatever you like to make it more colourful or contrived but that is up to you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, crack on..................
I suspected it might be for the story !

Well done. I approve of that kind of (war correspondent-style) commitment !

Just hope you checked your undercarriage before grabbing the camera.

Your a sadistic spirit no doubt.

Tomorrow the bandages come off and I will exhibit to one and all what can happen to one when they make the wrong decision about the tools they use.

What the fuck are you on about now Moog?

I fucked up using an improper tool to do a job and was extremely lucky to get away with the injuries I did.

Meaning....you took the photos to illustrate the story, not for an insurance claim.

Which is good. A photo llustrates it so much more vividly than a description can.

Something's not right with your noggin either.

Usually you'd have a prototype plastic guard made up and sold to China by now.

I don't know about that, Moog.

It all depends on use of imagery, metaphor, simile, hyperbole and rhythm which if combined nicely can paint a scene much better than a photograph which might not come out too well and if taken from an unusual angle ( excuse the pun ) may alter perspective so much so that it obscures rather than illustrates.

It's not that simple is all I'm saying.

Bugger me LT, your one lucky fella. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Brought back memories of my brief encounter with tree surgery. After a particularly windy autumn we had a few trees fall, and it was my job to cut them down to more manageable logs. Whilst cutting a branch, I hadn't noticed it was spring loaded, and ended up getting a good belt right in the mush. I finished up with a black tooth and lips that could have rivalled Pete Burns.

I am sure LT thanked the doctors and nurses at the hospital for patching him up.

Sometimes people forget about those closest to them and need a nudge to show their appreciation.
Which is usually reciprocated in spades

It never does any harm to remind people.

About 20 years ago I decided to remove the guard off a 9' grinder so I could fit on a 12' blade. I was lucky and the hospital was great.

    Lesson learnt.

Well Loy Toy...great that you have escaped with your jewels in tact, but effectively being "one armed"you will just have to lay on your back with a useless arm for the next month or so.......and let others do all the work!

I think you have now qualified as a "full on Thai tradesman".......I have watched them working building my house. I have tried to force them to use safety guards, the correct tools, safety glasses cutting ceramic tiles, and welding goggles when welding...even threatened to sack them....but they all seem to have the Aussie "I'm bulletproof" Macho mentality.

Your scars will be nearly as good as mine .....from doing just as stupid things...but for a longer period......This is the point where you will re-assess your methods, and the scars will decline!!! You have survived the test!!!

I worked with big chain saws and big grinders for many years and it was the grinder that I was most respectful of. In the end it was the saw that got me, nearly lost a finger and to this day I don't know how it happened.

Thank God it wasn't your wanking arm....

    Get Well Soon LT.

On a nicer note can I just say that in what is quite a dangerous environment our company has just completed 20 million manhours without a Lost Time Incident.

We work very hard in the field to educate the staff on what happens if you don't follow the correct procedures and use the right tools.

LT would you mind if I used this incident as a safety presentation I have to do at the end of the month (with pics)?

    No names will be used.

Good tip. I always text a GF when going up on the roof or inside a tank or cutting a big tree. I tell her if she doesn't get another text within an hour saying I'm done she has to call the emergency services.
