    Beards

Ive recently posted about my hair comb over Vs head shaving , so yesterday I decided it was time to buy a new pair of socks , but this time black one's as my leather sandals were constantly marking my white socks and I found trying to remove the marks by hand while doing my laundry was a bit tiring. So after searching the market stalls for a pair of black ankle socks at a good price , I decided to head for the shopping centre and get a bite to eat.

I splashed out 40 Baht on rice and chicken , asking the lady to remove any skin and dark meat and give me a good portion , as I sat there watching the world go by a farang guy and a Thai girl came and sat down at a near by table.

The farang was sporting a shiny shaved head and an impressive beard , I could not help but notice that the Thai girl kept stroking his beard in a semi sensual way , and it was plainly obvious that his bushy beard was attracting admiring glances from the surrounding females.

The other thing that struck me was it appeared that his facial hair was working some sort of magic and moving attention away from his shaved head .

Now ive never grown a beard , but after seeing the admiring glances I think I'm going to give it a try , and hopefully it may act as a distractor for my current comb over.

So have any of you guys got a beard /had a beard and can confirm that in fact growing one does some how add to a man's appeal and would take away any un wanted attention from my comb over .

Shaving ones face every day doesn't seem normal to me.

Yes I have had beards, off and on, since I was 18.

as for beards, most Thai women I have talked to don't like them, think they are dirty

mind you, most Thai women have not had any experience with a bearded wonder so their antipathy is just predujiced

I hate shaving everyday , but after a week the itching becomes too much, it looks terrible then too. Every 3 days suits me, for shaving and muffing

I am an occasional beard wearer. Once a year for 6 weeks or so.

That is also my favourite shaving frequency.

A goatee adds to my aura of dashing derring-do and mysteriousness.

    And hides my double chin.

I had not thought of a Goatee , I could do with a large helping of dashing derring-do and mysteriousness.

In my cromulent feeble mind I see my self more like this

had a beard (not the full on type) but more like the James Bond style for the last 40 years. Doesnt seemed to have had any adverse affects in fact quite the opposite as it disguises the inhereted 'small chin' syndrome.

My dear departed mother was a stickler for doing the right thing and constantly drilled into me the concept that an Englishman when abroad is was an ambassador , a bright beacon of dress seance in an other wise dull Commonwealth world. To not go down to breakfast in one's white crisp newly ironed Indian cotton shirt , cream slacks and Paisley silk cravat was considered a blatant fopa .

After breakfast one all ways took a stroll along the promenade wearing one's best wool socks and leather open toe sandals.

So here I am carrying on the family tradition , and really wearing socks and leather open toe sandals is not that bad in this Thai climate , as long as you regularly keep the gaps between your toe's free from any moist foul smelling build ups that some times can occur.

Sadly some times I let my standards slip and revert to less than stylish foot attire

the worse part when you have a real bewt beard, is when you are sleeping sometimes it gets caught in yer armpits, and when you roll over..its like somebastard giving yer facial fungai a good hard yank, not a nice way to wake up for sure..but a weird beard like that is only good in winter for keeping ya warm
