    Do You Collect Things

I watched a documentary about people who collect things and how the obsessive collecting can take over your life, so Ive decided to start collecting items to do with Wallace & Gromit as ive got this never worn W&G watch. ( 14 years old with original purchase receipt )

So do any of you guy's collect things , or have you collected things in the past?
If you whistle at night snakes will come to your house.

I collected pool cues for a while, but it got ridiculously expensive- I'll buy one more nice one in a few years (I'm six years into a nine-year waiting list for a new Southwest cue, which will probably cost ~$3,000 when it's done), but that will be it.

The worst part is that- while I'm a decent player- I'm just not that great at pool- sadly, a pricey cue doesn't automatically imbue you with a great stroke.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

    I used to collect insects.

I bought one of these cases on my first trip to Bangkok to begin my collection because no Thailand newbie is complete without one under his arm at the airport on his trip home.

But Aussie customs took it off me so that was the end of my brief hobby as an entomologist.

I know absolutely nothing about 1/8th scale Nitro monster trucks, but when it comes to personal hygiene in the lower areas , I'm sure I may be able to help , can you please let me see the offending lump/wart .

A friend of mine brings those back from LOS to the States and sells them at flea markets (and gun shows, where he does surprisingly well)- he always has to sneak them by customs as they'll be confiscated.

Thousands of people want one, and they make a couple hundred per year (if that- it might be more like 150)- if you signed up today, you'd probably wait eleven years (though you could of course pay a $1,000 premium and get one tomorrow from someone who bought one strictly to re-sell it, but it wouldn't be to your specs- I know of people that have paid quite a bit for an upcoming spot on the list).

I have an interesting seashell collection.

DrAndy collects some interesting insults and redistributes them amongst deserving people.

And whereas some people collect coins; sometimes foot doctors collect...foot calluses

There is no sneaking with Australian customs. The desks are manned by large and robust frowning middle aged women with industrial grade endoscopes, forearms the size of leg hams and full length rubber gloves.

I used to be obsessed with collecting these:

The obsession got worse and the collection tougher, so I switched to collecting these:

However, their worth dropped so I swapped them for these:

Then the wife left me and took my collection away with her....

Coins. Did it in UK when I was a kid. Amazing thing then was that in those days the currency had not changed for donkeys years, so you could get pennies that were 80 to 100 years old, still circulating and still legal tender.

Took it up here again. The 10 bahts circulating are worth watching - there are two common ones, but literally dozens of special edition ones- with either the front or back changed. There are different types of 5 baht and 1 baht coins as well as a number of others you can still find. I now have about 4 "stamp books" worth of different Thai coins.

I suppose what limits it and keeps it sane is that largely you do it by just looking through your change -and of course most of the ones I have are still legal tender here!

I used to collect conquered G-Strings when I was a Uni student. I had a very impressive collection and would sometimes hide them in my house mates room when his girlfriend was coming to visit.

I gave them away along with my extensive Club collection to an aspiring freshman before my move to Thailand.

I had a pet stuffed Armadillo I found in a bar during my drinking days. Great house pet. Never soils the place, doesn't eat, and never makes any noise. Best drinking buddy I ever had.
