I've got a noise pollution problem. The wife and I live in apartments that have been here for many years, in an out-of-town area which used to be quiet.
Not too long ago a restaurant opened up nearby and it plays music till early in the morning on our side of the apartments. It doesn't happen EVERY night, but when it does, it can be ANY bloody night. On Sunday night they had a live guitarist (amplified) till 1am Monday morning, and Monday night, slightly less loud recorded music till 2am.
It's not INCREDIBLY loud, but does intrude enough to disturb other (Thai) people here. And I don't like to shut the windows/doors as I like to BREATHE, and can't sleep with air-con.
Some people from our apartment block have previously been over there to chat politely with the owner but the music only stopped for one night. Someone else here thinks he pays off the police.
The other night I got my wife to call the local police station but the officer there said he could come out and have a word, but that the music would probably get turned up again later, so it was pointless.....even though we were the 4th people to complain that night.
He did however volunteer the information that the restaurant only had a permit to be a restaurant and not a live music venue. Interesting.....
After having had people from here visit already, the owner is obviously not going to be reasonable.
Does anyone know someone high up in the Bangkok police force who we could appeal to ? Or perhaps have a better suggestion ?
