Thread: Thais abroad: What do the hi-so's think of the whores?

In most towns in the UK there's at least one couple, the farang male and his younger Isarn wife. I don't mean to generalise but this is the case much of the time, and if you know Thailand, then you'll find it immedietely obvious.

In many cases these women have 'whored' their way to a better, more affluent life in the western world. They may not like everything about their adopted country (weather, food etc) but if they can support their (yawn...) family back in the village and the buffalo, they'll jump to it.

The distinctive Isarn farm look is a dead giveaway and some of these women don't even try and hide the fact in the way they dress, or rather they have no idea how to, which can also be obvious. The darker skin, (always) long black hair, nose and rubber lips are the usual signs.

The other type of Thais are the ones with cash who have been able to afford to study or work in the UK. Or even just get to the UK without being assumed to be on the game. These would be a bit more affluent, better family, and would not have had to 'whore' they way to an easy life. Many get jobs part time in the thousands of Thai eateries around, and get along, make friends and enjoy a great social life.

On the other hand, the other lower-end Thai group tend to hang together, with their small gambling get togethers, karaoke parties or drinking parties. They will almost always have some debt they gotta pay back in Thailand, and hardly ever really relax as their lives are money driven. They tend to live to work, and save every penny religiously. One I used to know carried round a notebook to take note of every penny she found in the street.

When these two classes of Thai come across eachother I always wondered what one really thought of the other, does one think the others are ''lucky bastards'' to have well off families whilst the others think the others are ''cheap whores''? I've never really heard them talk about this, although my ex-wife thought anyone else apart from herself was 'stupid'.

They do mix together at places, obviously, but in my experiences, one group never stray that far away from the whoring scene and the other group are never tempted into it. Do they ex-whores tell those that ''they could make good money on their backs''?

Always makes me laugh when this subject comes up in forums, cliches its always centred around Isaan women, Fact is theres many women from central Thailand doing tricks.

Just have a trip along to Khao san road these days young Uni students, middle class doing tricks.

Bangkok has many freelancers, who have good full time jobs but need extra money.

Generally speaking - Thai directed stigmas, stereotypes, myths, and cliches are the fodder that feeds the forum.

Some folks either have short memories or were not around during the Asian Financial Crisis back in '97/'98 when you'd have secretaries, schoolgirls etc. on the game - like real openly.
