Online Chopper Read impersonator plays dangerous game

THERE'S only one Chopper Read, and the man wants everyone in the Twittersphere to know it.

Read has posted an angry video slamming the "wombat" responsible for a fake Twitter account in his name.


Chopper takes his shirt off, shows his scars, pats the family dog and talks to his young son Roy during the two-minute rant against "all those other impostors that claim to be Chopper Read".


The fake account, ironically known as "The Real Chopper Read", has nearly 12,000 followers and has been used to post intimidating tweets aimed at celebrities and sports stars, including Shane Warne, Anthony Mundine and Russell Crowe.


The phony account was also used to berate Aussie cricket captain Michael Clarke for his "pathetic" and "un-Australian" performance against South Africa.


A furious Read set up his own Twitter account on Friday and told the Herald Sun he hoped the YouTube video would help set the record straight, accusing the imposter of causing trouble for him.



"He's an idiot and he won't even show his face," he said.
"I don't want him saying things to Tony Mundine and Shane Warne and these blokes because the silly buggers believe it's me.
"Tony thought I was bagging him, but I actually think he's a bloody good boxer."
Read said he had tried to track down the impostor, and that their girlfriends had spoken to one another.
But he rejected an offer to team up with the South Australian man to make money from a joint account.
"Not interested mate. You've milked me enough," he tweeted.
Chopper said he planned to continue using his new account "until I can put this idiot who is impersonating me out of business"
"I'm going to sit down at night now and say what I want to say."

A wombat is a little bit like some Thais.

I thought Eric Bana's performance in "Chopper" was one of the best portrayals of a high-functioning psychopath I have ever seen.
