Hi all in the lounge sorry if I'm in the wrong room but I thought I.d share with you.

One thing my dear old Dad used to say to me in my teenage years when I used to want to fight everyone and their Aunty " Nigel you always want to make something out of nothing thats your bloody trouble !! " Well mabe , but I don't think he quite had this in mind.
I love to reuse /recyle things that others discard and during my work going around building sites I always look in the skips to see whats being chucked out , also at our depot we have a lot of timber discarded by builders dumping hardcore / bricks etc so I sort the wood to take home before the fire gets lit.
We needed an outdoor table nothing too big so armed with my free timber + boxes of screws from skips I searched for a free table plan on the internet roughly to suit that I could adapt to , printed 4 drawings and off I went .

The pile of old wood in my shed

The four legs cut nice and square from old fence posts

Jointing and shaping up the underside supports for the table top

The old floorboards I am using for the top before and after cleaning up with my plane and sander .

The four legs jointed and screwed together ready for the side supports

The frame work nearly complete I did add a strut in the mid top connecting the sides

Just about there

Now in the wood pile I found enough bannister rail so I thought I would mitre it up and edge the table , then give it a coat of Saddolins wood stain ,, now this is where the £1 comes in to it . We have a house clearance shop nearby and he stung me a £1 for three quarters of a tin ( bless him there £15 new )

So there we are the finished product awaiting next summer to use it for a nice cold one and a drop of gai yang + som tim on the patio cheers !
