    Back froma great week in Phnom Phen & Sihanoukville

    Just came back form a week in Cambodia 3 days in Phnom Penh and 4 days in Shianoukville
    was very impressed, PP is all cleaned up on the riverside and the new park looks great. Plenty of new business, ( restaurants, shops) and off the riverside an abundance of new bars,
    Street 104 has at least 10 bars and Pontoon Bar, which was on riverside has moved over on street 172 near walkabout and is full of freelancers and guys.
    24 hour quick food places and family marts. PLus what hit me most since my last trip in 2009 was the many new high rises being built and completed. Was told by local friend that there is daily garbage pick up and street cleaners out each day. Looks like the construction of the high rise casino/hotel on the other side of the Tonle sap is proceeding as planned.

    Shianoukville has not changed that much EXCEPT for Otres beach which 2 years ago had no bungalows on it and a few beach side bars now has 6 bungalows open and 3 more under construction. Marina is finished as is the bridge over to the Russian owned island. Link for photos of Shianoukville;

    Contrary to what many think food is not any cheaper there than here in Phuket and not the same quality as well although its easy to get quite drunk on $.50 beers!!
    All and all if u have not been over recently its a nice change from Thailand

    Popped over to PP about 6 months ago for the first time in a while.

    Was very impressed with it. And the general populace as well. They seriously show-up the Thais in terms of basic intelligence.

    OMG. Can you imagine having monetary issues over here. That could ruin the entire experience. Debatcherie, fornication, and all those over evil oportunities could be severely curtailed.

    I recommend first sell your girl/wife's gold and if still short, visit a pawn shop. If all your stuff won't get it done, sell the soul of your first born. Pussy comes first.

    Visited Siem Reap about five years ago, was impressed. Went back this year and it was more charming than ever. Even the quality of the Koreans which make up a disproportionate large chunk of the tourists seemed to improve.

    I liked the low rise of PP, so maybe it is a pity they are building high rise now

    seems like plenty of space so no real pressure to build high

    Complete rubbish!

    As much as it pains me to say it, the average Thai is in no way as retarded as their Khmer counterpart.

    Generaly speaking Khmers are nicer people though.

    But don't be fooled what you see on the surface, there are some seriously fucked up people in PP and SV (Khmer and Barang) and that's something most 3 day tourists don't get to see.
