This rookie won 15 times in college, and now she's a winner on the LPGA after three starts

Ingrid Lindblad, a five-year player at LSU, has proven to be a quick study as a pro. The 25-year-old earned her LPGA card after making only nine starts on the Epson Tour and has now won on the LPGA in only the third start of her rookie season at the JM Eagle LA Championship. She earned a $562,500 paycheck for her efforts.

"I mean, you should never not expect it, right?" she said. "But obviously got it done in a couple starts. Just kind of crazy."

Sweden's Lindblad held off another talented rookie, Akie Iwai, by one stroke at El Caballero Country Club, closing with a 4-under 68 to finish at 21 under for the tournament. Three players finished two shots back, including Lauren Coughlin, Esther Henseleit and another rookie, Miyu Yamashita.

Justin Thomas ends three-year drought with playoff victory in RBC Heritage

Justin Thomas had one more hurdle to prove his game was back where he felt it belonged, and he cleared it Sunday in the RBC Heritage with the longest putt he ever made to win.

Walking up to the 18th green at Harbour Town in a playoff with Andrew Novak, Thomas remarked to fill-in caddie Joe Greiner that he had never made a putt of any length to win on the final hole. He had just outside 20 feet.

The putt was so pure, Thomas dropped his putter before the ball disappeared into the cup, setting off pure joy at ending nearly three years without a win.

“That was pretty cool,” he said. “That was as fun as I thought it would be.”

Steady Maja Stark Cruises to U.S. Women’s Open Title and Becomes First-Time Major Winner

With the $2.4 million winner’s check, the 25-year-old has nearly doubled her career earnings, which totaled $2.8 million before this week at Erin Hills, and Stark is now the seventh highest-earning Swede in LPGA Tour history, with $5,247,784 in official money. When asked what she planned to spend the money on to celebrate, Stark wasn’t quite sure what she would do with one of the largest paychecks on the LPGA Tour, but she does have one idea in mind.

“I didn't even know that,” said Stark with a giggle about the size of her winner’s check. “Maybe move out of my studio apartment can be one thing. I don't know. I'm very happy with what I have in my life right now. I think just having the security for the future, I think I'll just be very happy about that.”

In 2024, the fans at Seaview bare witness to LPGA Tour history on Sunday at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. After making the cut on the number with a birdie on her 36th hole, Linnea Strom played with zero expectations in the final round, and with nothing to lose. The Swede shot a final-round 60, jumping from T52 to the clubhouse lead to become the second Rolex First-Time Winner of the 2024 LPGA Tour season, and the 15th different player from Sweden to claim at least one Tour victory in her career. This event was held from 1986 to 2006 and returned to the schedule in 2010.
